Windows have swap too tho. It’s just no one tried to scam penguin-aligned users like that.
Putting the w10 logo over this classic XP wallpaper serves a purpose of generalizing, but ughhhghghhh.
Indeed, windows do swapping and paging by default.

There’s actually a very good 20 minute video that explains how it works, it’s very interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU77_s3X-xD
If you don’t have the time to watch there’s a text article let me find it here
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

It’s hard to give it up after you try it
If you setup the swap file to be in a virtual cloud synced drive, technically you’d be downloading more ram.
Gentoo users with a 16-core processor and 8 Gigs of RAM updating their packages.
2GB per core is barely enough to build rust these days if you disable lto
Wtf is rust and why is it such an extreme RAM hog?
You have to die your hair blue and study the texts to understand. If you do know there’s no going back. The path of a rustation Is a long and difficult one but soon you’ll preach the name of our god.😆
The btop in the meme may or may not be a 14 core xeon 2697 v3, with 48gb of ram running gentoo…
Idk but it’s not representative of actual memory usage. Swap isn’t system ram. I’m sure if you have enough memory in your windows system the page file would also be empty.
The joke is still funny even if windows preloads cached files into memory to speed up application startup and usage if available.
Proceeds to mount gdrive as swap
Nice
🔥
But Windows also have swap memory?
Maybe I do not understand shitposting…
linux takes lower amounts of ram and will automatically kill unused processes taking up lots of ram if you reach the limit of ram
This will kill the SSD.
The SSD can have a little swap, as a treat.
(But no, it’s fine, SSDs evolved, outside of some server cache things you won’t know the difference.)
