It’s been many years, but I remember a neuro professor back in college explaining that aspartame breaks down into phenylalanine, which competes with the precursor for serotonin to transport across the blood brain barrier. So effectively by having higher levels of aspartame in your diet, you can indirectly be reducing how much serotonin your brain can produce.
Honestly, same. It’s just harder to make jokes about life being amazing.
I guess the NPR article screenshot comes from the other timeline where it was a weasel then.
I believe so. The only thing I see in this meme template that’s confirmed bad for you is aspartame, but they’ve all maintained a presence in conspiracy-oriented circles.
The TenForward memes have escaped containment again.
Lol, no - I was trying to post a gif, but it failed to load. I just tried again by downloading it and uploading rather than link.

Nicotine is a mild simulant, yes. All of those things are frequently used by people to “self-medicate”, but the downsides are obviously pretty steep.
There’s this:
I’ve posted things like that before and it seems to make some people mad, lol
It’s the healing potion, for sure.
A couple of comments are suggesting that, but I remember this scene and just assumed it was a weird still from the movie.
I’m confused why someone would’ve recreated it, or modified part of it with AI, but it’s possible.
It’s way more fun to make up your own build as you go, based on how you want to play anyway. Just be warned that the upgrade materials are really stingy after a certain point, so be a little selective with how many weapons you commit to.
…and you’ll know you’re in this swamp when you find it. Good luck!
I love reading people’s first time experience with these games.
Demon’s Souls was the last of the Souls games I played, and I thought it was hard still. The bosses aren’t as frenetic and complex as later titles, but the levels and the navigation is brutal. I still remember running back in that swamp over and over and over.
I also remember grinding out weapon upgrade materials in a cave for literal hours, because I didn’t see any other way to get enough.
I’ve always considered it the latter.
I don’t imagine quitting the internet, but I can picture the internet fracturing into smaller sites with resistance to AI through obscurity - sort of similar to how we DO get occasional spam bots on Lemmy, but it largely isn’t worth bad actors’ time to target this platform.
Either that, or larger platforms with some sort of verification process, but that seems like a losing battle in the long run.
