Trump also assured Daniels that he and Melania didn’t “even sleep in the same room," she testified

After meeting the future president of the United States at a golf tournament in 2006, adult film star Stormy Daniels testified Tuesday that Donald Trump’s personal bodyguard asked if she would like to have dinner with the once-and-future Republican nominee.

“No, with an expletive in front,” Daniels said she told the aide in response, per NBC News. But she reconsidered after meeting with her publicist, she said, recalling their words: “If nothing else, you’ll get a great story” and “what’s the worst that could happen?”

But, according to Daniels, dinner never happened. When she got to Trump’s hotel room, she found him in pajamas – he later changed – and eager to discuss her work in the adult film industry, where she had risen from performer to director, and whether she had ever contracted and STD (“I’ve never tested positive for anything,” Daniels said).

Tbh, politicians like this are a liability for national security. Why do so many in policing circles (fbi etc.) support this kind of person? Their stated motivations are completely at odds with actions, it’s mind boggling.

B’cos deeply held personal prejudices will always come first. When they see Trump, or any other scumbag politician, has the same prejudices as them, they see a kindred spirit.

Honestly surprised his lawyers didn’t shut down most of the parts of her testimony that are getting the most media coverage. Stuff like him saying she reminded him of his daughter, him not using a condom, etc are embarrassing for Trump and hopefully cost him votes but are mostly not related to what he was actually charged with.

Does anyone remember that Bill Clinton got impeached for a fucking blow job in the oval office and lying about it on national television?

Yet we elect a president with multiple scandals, including paying a porn star hush, money for an affair while he was married. The hypocrisy in this country is ridiculous.

He didn’t lie about it. He was very, very careful to make them define all their terms and then answered truthfully based on their exact definitions.

He “did not have sexual relations with that woman” because he made them define what counted as sexual relations, and by their own definition a blowjob did not.

That’s a lie. Let’s not bullshit ourselves. Clinton got away with it because people have affairs. Especially people in power. He wasn’t smart about it. He just said what was believable.

I don’t think he is even in the same hemisphere as Trump in terms of lying. But this was definitely a lie. I do think that the Republicans at the time were out to get him and it didn’t matter. But that’s completely different than Trump. That fucker lies worse than a rug.

I’m not from your country, and Trump is a nightmare sub-human that needs to be put away, but it wasn’t just a blow job and lying about it on tv.

-He (age 49) was her(age 21) boss; there is a level of coercion and power imbalance
-He lied under oath, it wasn’t just on tv.

If he’s kept out of office for a second term, I’ll consider that a win and keep on trying for the next one. Almost everything after achieving that one goal can be done after it is achieved, but if he does get a second term then virtually everything imaginable will be getting worse for the foreseeable future.

It’s basically that he lied about what the payment was for. If he had filed it as something more accurate, there’d have been no problem.

But he said it was for “retainer fees”, and that’s a misdemeanor.

It was to conceal campaign finance violations; which as it’s another crime, makes it a felony.

I really feel Melania gets a big payout if trump is proven to have cheated on her in court. He only seems concerned in denying the affair, not the actual matter at hand. Maybe this breaks her prenup, and she can divorce him now.

I’ve reposted this story a million times.

Right after the 2016 election, the NY Times had a panel with the creators of all the top political TV series. West Wing; House of Cards: Scandal, any you could name.

All the writers and producers said the same thing; if they’d had a fictional character say that they ‘liked soldiers who didn’t get captured’ the TV networks and advertisers would demand that the character be shown getting hate from all Americans.

The media reported all the horrible things Trump said in 2016 and people still voted for the pig.

It was so outlandish that many of these folks opted to believe the media was slandering him over him just being that scummy of a person.

The character-assassination on “The Media” (granted some of that was self-inflicted) was really successful, allowing anyone to follow whatever narrative they desired without shame.

Lifelong NYC resident. I was watching Trump since the days when Ivana was the star of the show and Donnie was the stooge who carried her handbag.

There was a local satire magazine called ‘Spy.’ They loved to skewer the pompous, and Trump was always an easy target. They once described him as a ‘short fingered vulgarian,’ which is where the jokes about his tiny hands started.

imho this article shows Donnie at his absolute finest. When handed a golden opportunity to get in good with the Manhattan elites Donnie let his greed, arrogance, and stupidity make him hated by the people he wanted to love him.

There was a time when some of the Libertarian-minded conservatives said Trump was going to legalize weed. I think these two instances have an important relation: they are examples where conservatives of different types are superimposing their own beliefs onto Trump. He thus becomes the “perfect” candidate in their mind; the one who directly aligns with them in every way. This belief is very durable, able to withstand any facts that come from objective reality.

You already seen them try to mistrial over this, because although its gross, neither of those things are illegal and theyre not what hes being charged with. Hes being charged with falsifying business records. Its a simple case, they have the check stubs he signed, they have the records not showing payments, his previous lawyer is already in jail because we already know all of this happened. All this testimony is doing is giving them room to argue about personal biases.

Technically it’s about how she was paid, not about the keeping quiet.

It’s legal to pay someone to do something and pay them to not talk about it. NDAs are already a thing. You’re just not allowed to pay for it with campaign funds, it’s expected to come out of your own pocket

Actually, no, it’s not. It’s not illegal to pay someone to keep quiet. It is illegal to use campaign funds and lie about where that money is going. That’s what this trial is about.
