Wuster-shurr
War Chest Sir
or Wash Your Sister
At a funeral
‘Can I say a word?’
‘Go ahead’
‘Plethora’
‘Thanks, that means a lot.’
Bruh, too soon…
I say it the way it’s spelled. Other, perhaps more common pronunciations came about out of laziness. People just slurring the syllables together and now they’ve all agreed that’s how it’s pronounced because that’s how “everyone pronounces it”.
If that’s true for this and so many other words, then why don’t we just change the spelling to match the pronunciation we’ve “all agreed on?”
Right now, a problem schools are having is they’re trying to teach kids how to read without teaching letter sounds. Why? I have no fucking idea, it’s stupid.
My kid read above his grade level throughout school and at a college level in high school, because WE taught him. If we had relied on the schools alone, he would have floundered.
A critical look at “SoR”, or the Science of Reading movement that has left so many kids unable to read at grade level, sometimes falling four or five grades behind:

wustashuh
Isn’t that a city in Massachusetts?
Nah that’s just wustuh
close you got the Wusta. more like Wustahear.
That just depends on where in the uk the accent is from
perhapss, but this is my pronunciation and lets agree that accents in the uk are really only 50 miles away or less from eachother. Embrace our culture and my special sauce.
tamarind, is the thing that makes it.

Were Chester Shire, or, Worster Shire. Either/or.
Dump him, he’s a chud. Look at his chuddy little hand movements, what an incel.
Werst-eh-sher
One of my favourites names like this is Bicester.
Or Towcester
Bideford is another I like.
Wor. Ces. Ter. Shire.
(wor-SES-ter-shire)
Not that fucking difficult.
The Brits get to pronounce it (WUH-ster) because they invented it.
Shire is a pretty commonly mispronounced word in itself lol
Shy-er vs shure
I pronounce it shy er
The Brits get to pronounce it (WUH-ster) because they invented it.
That’s kind of not how language works though, is it?
Now go talk to somebody from “wistah” mass
Water, blackstrap molasses, imported habanero peppers, salt, garlic, ginger, tomato puree, axle grease, real hickory smoke, snuff, butts of clove cigarettes, Guinness Stout fermentation dregs, uranium mill tailings, muffler cores, monosodium glutamate, nitrates, nitrites, nitrotes and nitrutes, nutrites, natrotes, powdered pork nose hairs, dynamite, activated charcoal, match-heads, used pipe cleaners, tar, nicotine, singlemalt whiskey, smoked beef lymph nodes, autumn leaves, red fuming nitric acid, bituminous coal, fallout, printer’s ink, laundry starch, drain deaner, blue chrysotile asbestos, carrageenan, BHA, BHT, and natural flavorings.
Just stop adding extra sylables
wuss tear shear
Stick it on cheese toastie right off to stab sum manz innit
Fuckin English words and just rejecting half the god damn letters in it. You complain about French, but look at you! You’ve done the same thing!
We already dropped plenty of letters from it; it used to be Weogorancaesterscir (probably “the country of the stronghold of the people of the bending river”).
Believe it or not the French are also to blame for this
Wuss that over tear?
If you didn’t want the syllables, why have the letters for them?
It’s not our fault we had to mash Franco Germanic Latin and Nordic words together
Kinda is
What the heck accent is that meant to be when it’s at home?
War-Chester-shire
This is how I would pronounce it so it’s definitely wrong.
If the Brits wanted it pronounced their way then they should’ve stopped adding so many fucking letters
Nope… Woostershu sauce.
Y’all need to learn how to write out pronunciations, whether in the international phonetic alphabet or otherwise.
