It reminds me of a thing that was said by Jim Cornette once. If you’ve never heard of him, Jim Cornette is/was a tv personality in pro wrestling during the 1980s. Not a wrestler, but a manager. The important thing to take away from this is that to say he’s a very opinionated person is an understatement.

Who you vote for president won’t change that, but could have had one genocide instead of two plus all the internal strife. It’s time for other states to look at it, for groups in those states to use Alaska and Maine as working examples of the benefits, and for Alaska and Maine to start working on an Amendment to change how the president is elected.

Run a popular platform then. Clinton and Harris were status quo candidates. Clinton was a continuation of Obama. Harris was a continuation of Biden. They lost because they didn’t run a good campaign. They lost because they didn’t change tactics to address Trump.

And even old timers here in Lemmy don’t want to admit it, social media is the new frontline to win hearts and minds of voters. Not many people watch televisions these days or read newspapers, a lot of information are coming from social media.
Social media is part of the problem for misinformation, but even in the early days of the platform, it was used to organise authentic democratic grassroots protests from Arab Spring to Occupy Wall Street. Even Obama knew the importance of social media and he was called the first social media president for a reason. The younger generations leftist politicians are realising how adept the right has been with social media, and kudos to the likes of Mamdani for co-opting back the platform to organise for the left.
