You can google it but the summary is that she handles criticism pretty poorly. Also, her jokes are mostly not even a joke. Most of them are straw man clickbait.

          handles criticism poorly

What a pearl-clutching take. Also known as:

After I attacked her, she reacted in a way that hurt my feelings

Maybe, just maybe, don’t attack a comic?

I mean from what I understand she DID handle things poorly. The issue is it happened one time and people will not let it go when there’s no reason to cling to it.

Ah, a straw man argument. Now where have I seen this type of rhetoric? XD

I have never “attacked” or said anything to pizzacake, and she did react pretty poorly when other people did. If you don´t believe me, google it yourself.

Except that it is? You literally added a quote of something neither I nor anyone else said (“After I attacked her, she reacted in a way that hurt my feelings”) and then provided your own reply for it justifying her response. One her real reactions, btw, was portraying her “attackers” as rapists. You did not quote any “attacks” nor her response, but justified it nonetheless because people were “attacking” her.

                Criticize != Attack

As a refresher, here’s what a straw man argument is:

A straw man argument (or straw man fallacy) is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone distorts or exaggerates an opponent’s actual position, and then refutes that fake, weaker version of the argument instead of the real one.

If you don’t see how your reply fits that definition, I’m afraid I can’t help you.

Who’s “this guy”? I’ve never personally talked to pizzacake and hadn’t even heard of her until after all of this happened.

I was did misremember. It was a comic strip where she was basically the rapist amd it got her patreon banned for a while. Supposedly because they only allow consensual content.

It’s funny how people who can’t stand being wrong immediately resort to ad hominem remarks with literally no basis in reality.

Lemmy has unfortunately turned into reddit at a more rapid pace than I was expecting.

(copy/paste:) I’ve read the following arguments:

        • her humor is bland, Cathy-level stuff. I like [email protected] so I’m not exactly an expert on humor, but fwiw I like her art style and I find her strips amusing more often than not. That sort of thing’s subjective anyway.
        • she had reddit comics-strip mods delete any critical comments about her. Yeah, reddit sucks, that’s why we left, I dunno if it’s fair to blame her for that.
        • she supported stuck with reddit during the API protests. I kinda disliked her for a while because of this, HOWEVER since then she’s done a lot of anti-MAGA comics (like this, this, and this) so I think she’s cool bc that’s a far more important issue, and I’m not gonna be hung up on reddit forever.
        • in her strip she sometimes makes fun of people who criticize her. I see this kinda like a stand-up comedian dealing with hecklers, i.e. it’s part of the show, and good on her for not taking shit from people. But some people apparently think this is inappropriate. Others assume that her “hecklers” are sexist, insecure, etc and that creates even more defensiveness. Not sure if there’s an easy solution to this.

Defended Reddit? Not only is that a weird stance, but it makes no sense. What point COULD you make in their favour? What was she saying?

I remember during the API strike she posted a comic that seemed to be directed against the strikers but I don’t remember the specifics. I do remember (as someone who isn’t a HUGE fan but generally defends her perspective) being disappointed in her at that time, but I also didn’t read everything she posted. So maybe it’s too strong to say that she “supported” reddit, but it’s undeniable that she “stuck with” reddit, so I’ll change the wording accordingly. At any rate, I think her takes on other issues are more important.

Her comics are typically very surface level takes on political issues, where she knows her audience will agree with her. There’s very rarely any humour in her comics, and her fans will not accept any criticism of her whatsoever.

Mostly people post her work because it agrees with whatever viewpoint they hold.

People spread things that they agree with, yes. Spreading ideas we believe in is why we evolved to communicate in the first place. Ironically, talking about it as if it’s some novel take is very similar to how Pizzacake made a comic about AI being bad. It’s like, yeah, we know. At least with the comic it’s humorously exaggerated so we can get some amusement out of it. Make a humorously exaggerated comic about a pandering cartoonist and I’ll enjoy that, too.

Valid critique but have you ever talked to a PISS advocate that describes all of them too except the pronoun
