Random tea story: I travelled in India a few … shit, decades ago. On one of my train trips there was this one guy selling tea from a big urn. Usually these guys jump on at a station, sell cups of tea or coffee to whoever wants it, then they jump off at the next station; they can’t sell tea or coffee in more than one car because the passageways between cars are usually kept locked.
This one guy walked up and down the aisle selling a few cups, then he went to the door (the car doors that people use to get on or off the train are usually kept open or they’re not even there) and while holding his urn in one hand grabbed the vertical handrail on the outside of the door with his other hand, swung himself out into space (this while the train was moving at full speed), grabbed the handrail of the next car and swung himself in. He did this just so he could sell a few more cups of tea before we reached the next station.
People tend not to believe me when I tell this story, but there are a bunch of Youtube videos from India showing people doing even crazier shit than this on trains. For me, it just tends to make me not sweat the tea rings underneath my cup.
Teapots are far superior, and fewer plastics.
Lots of tea bags are paper based. I use Yorkshire tea bags and they are paper based bags here in the UK.
But then you have more dirty dishes to stare at before the notion of personal responsibility pervades your every thought and feels so overwhelming that you retreat back to your group of equally depressed “friends” on discord who are only there to whinge about their own life problems, real or imagined, giving everyone the socialization equivalent of eating cake for dinner, hollow-carbs that feel momentarily satisfying but actually does you more harm than good.
Honestly should be using loose leaf in a strainer. Three of the four problems magically change into new and different problems!
But the real reason is that (most of) those tea bags are made of plastic and you’re brewing up a tasty microplastic cup every time you use them.

I’ve ingested so much tea this way. I’m done for.
my buttocks crunches like a sun chips bag when i sit down. should i be worried?
Shoulda ordered “Earl Grey, cold.” my man
Dammit that’s not a gif!
Armus strikes again!
the real secret tech is to use a french press for tea.
The press acts as a filter for the leaves and all you need to do when you’re done is dump them out and rinse the pot and the lid. Absolute game changer
I’m going to have to try this next time I make tea.
There were only like two brands in the UK that were plastic-free and one was Aldi’s range. Now it looks a little better
I personally find buying empty, unbleached paper teabags and filling them with loose leaf tea before brewing is the best of both worlds.
I see a 4 panel and default to checking if it’s a Loss 😭
Bags with pull strings are bullshit. Just use your spoon to press against the side of the mug. No need for a garotte.
I tie the tag to the handle loosely and take it out when I’m done drinking it
Please take your tea out when it’s done steeping. It gets bitter and gross.
I like it super bitter though
This is the Way. Doesn’t even really need to be a knot either.
Yeah it’s just a loop around the handle and then down
Every time I go to the grocery store, I notice the Tazo Tea shelf, and every single one is in stock except for the “Calm” one.

Make tea in a pot
Skill issue
This was funnier as a video.
Yeah, I dont get it. There’s a ring under my glass almost every time I make tea. Its no big deal, wipe it up, and move on with your day.
You get less of a ring if you make sure the water goes into the cup.
Well, damn, I knew I was doing something wrong.
Now you know. I’m always ringless. It can be done. I believe in you.
Why do you drink tea out of a glass
Bcz i drink cold tea like a civilized person…not hot tea like those damn yankies!
You what
Outside the US yankee==american. Inside the US yankee==north-eastern american. Iced tea is popular in the American South, where this guy is probably from
Yes Stares aggressively to assert dominance
I’ve been trying to find the video since I posted the comment. I have it saved on my phone but don’t know how to post it
Definitely funnier. Which one was first? I feel like there should be some attribution here. They are clearly copying one another in some direction.
Serenity now. Serenity now! Serenity NOW!!!
hate it when it’s one of those days
You mean every day?
It’s usually more of a constant dissatisfaction and low motivation than an ‘everything sucks forever’-feeling.
Speak for yourself. It’s both for me.
Damn, dude. I hope it gets better for you.
