She served in the Israeli occupation forces. Would you watch a movie with a Russian actor who served in the military?

Israel is guilty of genocide, and illegally occupies Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese lands. The movie should be banned in more than just Lebanon.

The Gal Gadot hype in the 2010’s was always overdone. Reviews of Wonder Woman at the time noted her lack of acting skills and that the same lack of skills made it hard to take that Justice League movie seriously.

Rhea Ripley should have been Wonder Woman. Then again, she got lucky by avoiding that god awful anti-communist sequel.

While I have no interest in this movie and I think Gal Godot sucks, banning movies is akin to banning books.

Banning books, like banning movies, is a great way to admit publicly that your position is so weak you can’t tolerate any dissent. Let the power of your ideals stand on their own.

Edit: ok I’m going to leave this up here because I’m a masochist, but ok I get it. I’m with you guys. Boycott Gal Godot. Ban is functionally a boycott. In the US, this movie would never get banned, but I would 100% boycott it. I didn’t fully think this through and I agree with most of you guys.

Except in this case, the thing being banned has no message they’re trying to repress. They’re targeting a person who’s in it.

I need you to understand that Mein Kampf is a banned book and so you are currently claiming the case against literal NSDAP Nazism is so weak it can’t tolerate dissent.

You need to either do some self crit and disentangle yourself from liberal idealism or get the fuck out of here.

How about we don’t let Disney try to profit off a movie starring a Zionist in a country that just got invaded by the Zionist Entity?

Do you think the abstract concept of dissent is the only reason to censor something? Because be clear here, the film isn’t proposing dissent in Lebanon. It’s slop made for a quick bit of money to go on Disney’s big pile of money, and it stars a war criminal who worked for an agency that likes to kill Lebanese people . Yeah Gal Gadot dissents against the idea that Lebanon shouldn’t be sent exploding pagers

Let the power of your ideals stand on their own.

“Fascism will die in the marketplace of ideas” has been conclusively disproven.

This is not because fascism is a strong idea, it’s because the marketplace of ideas (like most markets) ranges from “doesn’t work very well” to “rigged.”

Lol fascism got into power because there is a revolutionary mood in the air and the capitalists have spent a century banning the idea of socialism at every turn. I feel very confident that socialism would have become popular if there wasn’t an active effort to stymie it’s adoption by the masses.

So yes the marketplace of ideas is rigged.

There’s a huge difference between the reasons for such a ban. This wasn’t a movie with political content antagonist to Lebanon government. This ban is probably to make a statement for both outside and inside the country. To show how normalized the violence against them is widespread in our media industry. But you can read in this action whatever you like… Sure…

Ps. Have you seen Waltz with Bashir? Hell of an animated movie.

due to americans voting to elect a guy they wanted to have a beer with (george w).

should we ban your citizens? because you cause almost every single issue being dealt with today on earth.

If she supports right wing Netanyahu policies of displacing palestinians, then yes, ban her.

If she has nothing to do with israeli policies other than her place of birth…well i dont understand you in any way.

As far as I can tell when she served she only helped train the troops who were committing the war crimes on-the-ground.

She’s also been steadfast in her support for Israel, promoting the propaganda about the mass systematic rapes by Hamas on Oct 7th which no evidence of has come to light in over a year. While also having nothing to say about the systemic torture and rapes of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, which include the torture and sexual assault of Palestinian children, and silence about the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. She served the IDF for 2 years and is still a steadfast supporter. That shows she is aware of the war crimes the IDF commits and supports them. Otherwise she would be on Breaking the Silence.

              https://forward.com/culture/film-tv/706699/gal-gadot-snow-white-israeli-palestinian-conflict/

Her going on actual raids in Lebanon or piloting the bombs or air strikes is not a requirement for people to boycott or Lebanon to ban the movie.

If people in the 1930-40s boycotted a movie featuring a soldier that served in Nazi Germany (because of the acts of Nazi Germany), despite that soldier not seeing action, that would be just as justified. Especially if that soldier still supported Nazi Germany.

I don’t live in the USA, and boycott them too.

Either way, your argument is a strawman, because Israel is still actively committing genocide, and there’s multiple sources of evidence of Netanyahu also funding Hamas. It’s also incredibly unlikely one of the world’s top surveillance tech states, that was able to do a supply chain attack via beepers, was also blind sided by what happened October 7th.

And lastly, USA wasn’t seeking to colonize Iraq or even your disingenuous comparison to WW2 Japan - Israel has been building illegal settlements on the other hand for years.

i cannot understand possibly what in your brain is telling you they weren‘t. thats identical to israels intent with gaza. identical.

talking blindsided terror attacks justifying wars, what about 9/11 warning? US engaged in a 20+ yr occupation, genocide, etc causing DIRECTLY over 2 million civilians dead and displaced.

why do you give the US a pass? and crucify israel over 100k dead?

what literally is the difference to you? why are you not online being anti-USA? they killed at minimum over 10x more civilians after 9/11

Literally am anti USA to the point I left long ago, and have avoided US products as much as possible since before it was popular due to Trump.

However, again, the Iraq war has ended, and the USA was literally not sending Americans to permanently live in Iraq while killing every Iraqi possible.

Israel’s intent with Gaza is to wipe out Palestinians in Gaza entirely and make Gaza part of Israel.

And lastly, this whole argument is a strawman because this post was about Gal Gadot. But good try at derailment, troll. It failed this time so I guess you’ll get a pay deduction from Netanyahu. Or at least, I’d hope you weren’t so stupid to be doing this for free.

Either way, you’re a despicable human for trying to excuse genocide in any way, including whataboutism, and part of why humanity cannot advance further as a species. I can only hope you feel shame at yourself, for only through that would you have any redemption.
