privacy@lemmy.ca•Your Car Is Sharing Data With Big Tech Companies, Study Finds
7·11 days agoSame here. I wish Canada had a company making something similar since I’d rather not support the US economy. Choose your poison, I guess.

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Trump flexes ‘American power’ on UN’s biggest stage
11·18 days ago“During his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump threatened Iran with annihilation, laid claim to Venezuela’s oil as the spoils of victory, and justified U.S. strikes on alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean.“
The FIFA Peace Prize recipient, ladies and gentlemen.

Boycott US@lemmy.ca•Trump has amassed staggering wealth in ‘most openly corrupt’ presidencyEnglish
37·23 days agoThis is the Kleptocracy tracker timeline from Johns Hopkins U. It puts each of Trump’s corrupt acts of self enrichment on an easy to read timeline. Well, it actually becomes difficult to read because there are so many events in such a short period of time.

Fuck The USA@lemmy.ca•Trump calls Canada becoming ‘associate member’ of EU a hostile actEnglish
2·23 days agoIt’s hostile, but also laughable. I’m tired of this toxic clown show.

News@lemmy.world•US scraps limits on emissions from coal and gas power plants
17·25 days agoCanadian wildfire smoke went south of the border and Trump responds with tariffs (instead of help with the fires). So I guess we know how Canada should respond to the increase in American coal pollution that will inevitably enter Canadian airspace.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump offers $5,000 US to every American if Republicans win midterm elections | CBC NewsEnglish
3·30 days agoThis is exactly why I posted it here. Pretty hard to argue that another Trump term (or a Trump adjacent individual being elected) via this violation of basic democratic principles would not have global implications.

I don’t think there’s a notification that they’ve been added. So how would they know what to add a notification to?

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Some US cities begin rewarding careful drivers with fewer red lights by giving early greens to those driving under or at the speed limitEnglish
2·1 month agoI can’t wait for the carbrain victim complex to conjure up complaints of being punished for speeding. In Ontario, there were drivers (publicly, in news articles) saying that they’re essentially too distracted while driving to keep track of the speed limit and their speed relative to it. This was their argument against speed cameras. Incredible.

World News for Canadians@lemmy.ca•Climate change past the point of no return, UN says, as worst impacts are now unavoidable
4·1 month agoIn Toronto, Doug Ford is about to rip out bike lanes in a misguided attempt to improve traffic congestion. There is currently no evidence that the bike lanes made traffic worse and there is strong evidence that induced demand will return traffic congestion to pre-bike lane removal levels fairly quickly. Advertising preys on stupidity, but we’ve also got a stupidity problem.
