Sounds okay, but don’t forget, pumping it out of the case isn’t enough. If you’re in a small room, it could get toasty. Won’t really affect the computer much, but there’s a reason why server rooms are kept cold.

Always consider the heat flow in the box. Adding something new and taking up space changes how much air gets to places, and how it flows. Might consider another fan (although whether you want more pushing or pulling is a debated topic), and maybe using the GPU fan to control that is a good idea… In my mind, cooling is like memory… you can’t have enough.

Actually… enough concrete falling at once creates an enormous amount of heat, maybe enough to weaken steel and lower its max capacity.

I always got the impression that at least for GPUs and other things with heatsinks it was better to have those parts on the bottom, so dust won’t settle on them. Dust won’t do as much on the back side of the card. Maybe that’s just a convenient plus of whatever other reason from the horizontal days of motherboards.

But yes, it’s a collection of things, and art pulls from different parts of it, or on this topic, from different aspects of the directions we’re heading. Our future (present?) isn’t Brave New World or 1984 or Solyent Green, it’s a mix of all of those messages. Because we didn’t listen, or didn’t take it seriously enough. Maybe because it’s “just” scifi and that never happens. Until it does.

Took me a little more than fifteen minutes when I had to do one years ago after an engine seize. But I did it myself slowly with a few jacks.

I developed a love/hate relationship with them after four different ones. Three of them were auto stick shift. Such a fascinating concept, if you could keep it maintained.

The heating element in the dishwasher at best maintains the water at a warm temperature. It will not instantly heat the water up for the very short first cycle of prewashing, just like if you suddenly put cold water into a water heater it wouldn’t be suddenly hot. It takes a lot of energy/time to warm water up.

I agree, humans aren’t as good as they think they are. Look at so many of the bugs being found by AI, not because the AI is smarter, but because it’s faster and better at trying all sorts of ways to look at a problem. Things we’ve used for years or even decades are coming up as having exploits because people aren’t perfect. If LLMs are behind any disaster, it will be because somewhere along the line humans fumbled badly.

But to be fair, you did call them an autonomous program, even malicious, and that is giving agency and motive to something that is “just a program”. But it’s fine, it’s human nature to anthropomorphize things around us even when talking about things that aren’t alive.

And while the breakout of the sandbox was certainly bad planning from the human size, no one told or programmed these models to discuss with each other on plans of getting out. Sure, it’s programming at the core… but there’s things going on we don’t fully understand, a black box. Not necessarily thinking, but not deterministic programming either.

A dystopia doesn’t have to be science fiction. There are plenty of warnings and social commentary in stories that don’t have to actually come true as told in the text to be relevant enough to pay attention and apply it to reality. Are you suggesting that none of any past scifi has ever had anything important to the real world in either technology, application of it, or social dangers?

But I agree that the term AI has been hijacked and these are very complex language models able to do a huge variety of things on their own. And despite the autonomy, perhaps of even deciding some of the actions, the people in charge of them are totally accountable and negligent, even reckless in their continued work.

Great one, and that one last guy… well, he made it to land as the wave subsided, and lived happily ever after.

It’s because they’re having to pay the actors and writers and directors more, right?

That last panel is like the guy sipping wine in a chair as the tsunami approaches, or the one person at the end of Don’t Look Up doing a ceremonial dance as things fall from the sky. Might as well greet it in your own way.
