“It’s only a war crime if you get caught” --Cpt. Benjamin Sisko
“There is no interstellar law in the Delta Quadrant so those technically weren’t war crimes” --Cpt. Kathryn Janeway
Sometimes you gotta nuke a planets biosphere, to make a point.
To be clear he just made the biosphere inhospitable to humans specifically and it was only after the Maquis did that to another planet but for Cardassians
The whole Maquis thing was stupid and the correct thing for Starfleet to have done would be to forcibly remove every last one of those reactionary shitheels who were pissy about their fully automated luxury space glamping colonies being magically teleported somewhere else at zero cost to prevent another giant war (which became irrelevant when a giant war happened anyway thanks to Gul Dukat capitulating to the evil jello people)

In a less serious manner, i’m going to laugh at you for thinking the federation cardassian war wasn’t going to go hot again on it’s own with or without the Maquis, and this is also without including the Dominion or Dukat’s ambitions in the picture.
Okay to be serious here, the whole situation was caused by Wolf 359 effectively forcing Starfleet to go through a very sudden arms reduction, yes the federation cardassian war was going on while the Battle of Wolf 359 happened. Thus forcing the Federation to sue for peace in the war because they now have a very sudden manpower and lack of ships problem all caused by single borg cube. The thing is that all of Starfleet’s admirals knew that the peace treaty was only done to buy time to rebuild their now suddenly depleted fleet, and that the federation cardassian war was going to go hot again when they were ready to continue it, partly (mostly) because the cardassians at the time are pretty much portrayed as expansionist fascists, and well the cardassians were making moves to restart the war when they were ready too.
Now the whole Maquis thing, their problem is that they (rightfully imho) feel that the federation stabbed them in the back with the peace treaty, especially since the federation government is making decisions based entirely on the nonsense belief that every single federation citizen is living in the paradise like conditions of earth. Hint: they’re not, what would become the Maquis are certainly not, and it’s laughable to think they’re remotely close to that. Now yes the people settling and establishing colonies on the frontier planets are living in relative comfort (at least until it goes wrong, and the federation doing jack and shit to help in almost every case), but it’s a far cry from the paradise conditions on earth, it’s kinda like a rich person telling a poor person how to save money. Now to the fun part, considering what we know from the previous paragraph, the Federation decided to knowingly or unknowingly (I’m betting on starfleet admirals fully know they’re using them) secretly use the Maquis’ resentment to secretly keep hostilities going against the cardassian attempts to prepare for renewed aggression, hell the cardassians were doing the same thing too.
Tuvix failed to consider that he only gets one

VOY episode titles are all like Threshold and then someone crosses a threshold and turns into a space salamander
Voyager titles are like “common phrase or saying” and then Janeway immediately flips a coin to decide whether she’s gonna be a liberal or completely unhinged.
she’s gonna be a liberal
FAKE NEWS!!!
everyone know that star trek is fully automated gay space communism!
lol
I mean, Picard is Space Lenin and Sisko is Space Jesus,
But yeah no, Janeway’s decision making just doesn’t feel communist at all.
she’s from indiana – the least socialist out of all of the gay space communist. lol
