  • Gimme tips, hints and tricks.

Bows/Crossbows just straight suck against bosses, they’re only good for picking off enemies, or pulling one enemy at a time. If you want to play ranged against bosses, sorceries (int spells) are the way to go. Incantations (faith spells) are like sorceries, but a lot of them require you to be more aggressive to get mileage out of them.

Frostbite is busted against bosses. How busted? So when you apply the frostbite proc against a boss, it does 15% of their health pool in a single chunk (like a bleed proc), and slows down their movement and has them take more damage for 30 seconds and can’t have another frostbite proc until this is over. However you can attack with something that does fire damage, which will reset the frostbite proc cooldown (and gets rid of the debuff) so you can go and apply the frostbite proc again.

Black flame incantations (a faith spell) do some % (I think it’s like 2%) of a enemy’s healthbar in DoT damage on top of the on hit damage when you hit someone with, this is useless against run of the mill guys, but for bosses…

Doing any sort of faith build is good, Strength/Faith, Dex/Faith, Arcane/Faith, or pure faith. It gives you a wide array of damage (Fire and Lightning damage), healing spells that ease your red flask burden, and faith users are the based spellcasters.

Don’t use Holy damage, nearly every single boss has absurd holy resist in base game. There are exceptions to this, but I think you can figure out which enemies are weak to holy.

  • The whole Maquis thing was stupid and the correct thing for Starfleet to have done would be to forcibly remove every last one of those reactionary shitheels who were pissy about their fully automated luxury space glamping colonies being magically teleported somewhere else at zero cost to prevent another giant war

In a less serious manner, i’m going to laugh at you for thinking the federation cardassian war wasn’t going to go hot again on it’s own with or without the Maquis, and this is also without including the Dominion or Dukat’s ambitions in the picture.

Okay to be serious here, the whole situation was caused by Wolf 359 effectively forcing Starfleet to go through a very sudden arms reduction, yes the federation cardassian war was going on while the Battle of Wolf 359 happened. Thus forcing the Federation to sue for peace in the war because they now have a very sudden manpower and lack of ships problem all caused by single borg cube. The thing is that all of Starfleet’s admirals knew that the peace treaty was only done to buy time to rebuild their now suddenly depleted fleet, and that the federation cardassian war was going to go hot again when they were ready to continue it, partly (mostly) because the cardassians at the time are pretty much portrayed as expansionist fascists, and well the cardassians were making moves to restart the war when they were ready too.

Now the whole Maquis thing, their problem is that they (rightfully imho) feel that the federation stabbed them in the back with the peace treaty, especially since the federation government is making decisions based entirely on the nonsense belief that every single federation citizen is living in the paradise like conditions of earth. Hint: they’re not, what would become the Maquis are certainly not, and it’s laughable to think they’re remotely close to that. Now yes the people settling and establishing colonies on the frontier planets are living in relative comfort (at least until it goes wrong, and the federation doing jack and shit to help in almost every case), but it’s a far cry from the paradise conditions on earth, it’s kinda like a rich person telling a poor person how to save money. Now to the fun part, considering what we know from the previous paragraph, the Federation decided to knowingly or unknowingly (I’m betting on starfleet admirals fully know they’re using them) secretly use the Maquis’ resentment to secretly keep hostilities going against the cardassian attempts to prepare for renewed aggression, hell the cardassians were doing the same thing too.

  • Really wish this game was what they were trying to market it as

It is in a humorous way, since the entire KS pitch was pretty much Chris Roberts going “I’m Chris Roberts, and I want to make the game(s) that publishers won’t let me make” in 2012/13, and effectively put two games in development. Squadron 42 which was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Wing Commander, and Star Citizen which was billed to be a MMO Freelancer. Which when that happened by itself was the perfect year for him, or anyone for that matter to do such a thing, as 2010-14ish (arguably it started earlier than that) were years where it felt like nearly every developer was stripping out anything that could cause “friction” in their games. Also the space sim genre had been kinda dead for nearly 10 years at that point, and SC was the first one that got announced.

At the time of the kickstarter, nobody really remembered why “I’m Chris Roberts, and I want to make the game(s) that publishers won’t let me make” was a terrible marketing pitch because they were hungry for a new space sim, a new Wing Commander, Freelancer, TIE Fighter, or well anything space sim. Fast forward to now just about everyone that isn’t true believers now remembers why that pitch was terrible, and shouldn’t have been made to begin with, mostly because it was the reason why Chris got kicked off of development of Freelancer by MS in the first place.

  • Generally I prefer how confident 343 was for Halo 4 than this inferiority complex toward Bungie that developed since starting Halo 5 which has only grown through Infinite-CE.

The problem was that they tried to introduce another universal threat so soon after dealing with like the universal threats in both the flood, and Truth trying to fire all the rings with the ark in 3. Honestly 4 shouldn’t have had a single forerunner on screen, like the second they put another universal threat on the table so soon after dealing with the ark was the second I checked out of whatever story they wanted to tell, honestly the bad guy for 4 onwards should’ve been ONI. Also the less I talk and think about the wasted potential of the Banished and Atriox the better (book Atriox is a god damn revolutionary, game Atriox is a McGeneric warlord).
