Perhaps you could ask for a cash job sweeping and mopping up, taking out rubbish, wiping down dust and spills, and if you do a good job with a good attitude, manager may give you a chance at cashier, later?
If they don’t respect you enough to even send a “we aren’t hiring you” email/call/text then you definitely don’t want to put yourself in a position where they have power over you, especially a cash job where they could screw you over & you have 0 recourse
thank you, i was a bit surprised to even read such a comment on a communist platform, i complain about my job search here exclusively because i know the reply wont be some bullshit about how i should basically do a big no no when it comes to labor laws

I don’t know where you are, so I obviously don’t know the laws. I know here, as I said, I’ve gotten exactly two rejection notices in 25 years.
I’ve gotten maybe two rejection letters in a quarter of a century. I don’t know, maybe businesses in your area still pay people to do this?
Oh same, I’ve applied to countless jobs and can probably count on one hand the number of times they actually let me know I wasn’t going to be hired. I have to idea why in this day and age they wouldn’t just mass email all the failed applicants, just copy paste the “we ain’t hiring you, kick rocks” message and call it a day
I agree. BCC is pretty easy, but I guess they figure no reply is better than a reply with their own email address in the “to” line? I don’t know.

i think that they WILL be soon because we’re euroids and i noticed that they have no limit on sunday trade which is not ideal here and when i interviewed there their shifts were really illegal. hopefully one of the workers there get fed up and report it
