I read his little -open source runs on good faith- essay. Its all been documented. no one owes you research lol, we’re not at school/work.
The Lemmy devs never encoded their personal beefs or political opinions into their software. They’ve always kept that to their own instance. There’s bigger assholes administering other instances. But its only Rimu and Admiral Patrick tried to impose their opnions on other instances with hard coded block lists secret shadowban lists, and hidden social credit scores.
At least the Lemmy devs keep their beliefs to .ml, can’t say the same for PieFed. They want their entire software to be talior made for all users to one person.
Yup and ironically piefed’s greatest fans were claiming the exact opposite. That Lemmy’s devs were going to do that and that piefed is saving us from it. What a joke.
That is only partially true. The Lemmy codebase is largely ideological by omission. A lot of very useful moderation tools are not implemented in Lemmy because the devs disagree with them ideologically. This has been a struggle with them basically from day one and it has enabled a toxic culture to fester on many instances.
