Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars media platform and its assets will be sold off piece by piece in auctions this fall to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, under an order expected to be approved by a federal judge.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez in Houston said during a court hearing Tuesday that he will approve the auctions that start in November. But he said he first must change a previous order to make it clear that the trustee overseeing Jones’ personal bankruptcy case controls all the assets of Infowars parent company Free Speech Systems, which is owned 100% by Jones.

Despite the pending loss of his company, Jones vows to continue his talk shows through other means, possibly including a new website and his personal social media accounts. He also has suggested that Infowars’ assets could be bought by his supporters, allowing him to continue hosting his show as an employee under the Infowars brand in their home city of Austin, Texas.

I saw a billboard that read “I’m a former Trump voter and a patriot and I’m voting for Harris” and I realized that I now view the notion of someone being a patriot as them being less intelligent.

Either way, the notion that Democrats should “reclaim patriotism” is fighting against a long-honed visceral reaction against it amongst the folks on the left.

I don’t know how anyone who has any knowledge of US history could possibly be a patriot. Calling yourself just makes you sound ignorant or psycho. “FUCK YEAH! I LOVE A COUNTRY BUILT ON SLAVERY AND GENOCIDE! WOO!”

Honestly patriotism is recognizing those aspects and trying to improve it for the better, it aint blind nationalism. To use an analogy for me the USA is like a drug addict cousin who I am attemlting to help get clean.

That analogy makes more sense, but it’s not just your cousin. It’s your entire community that’s a bunch of drug addicts, and they all hate you for trying to help them, and they think being a drug addict to be noble somehow.

Good work is never truly done, and I dont particularly care if I have to force them kicking and screaming to get clean. Civility was never my strong suit and burning their dealers alive is well within my morals. Which in this analogy is fox, OAN, and talk radio

One thing the “alt right” did is get so many of us to see the difference between a patriot and a nationalist. They might claim the p-word, but they also claim to be pro-choice when it suits them so their definitions mean dick all. They’re flags-on-clothes “MY country, not yours, right or wrong” nationalists.

From what I’ve seen, a patriot wants to work to fix what’s hurtful in their country and to protect social and legal advancements already accomplished for the common good.

But absolutely, they’ve fouled that word up with how often and loudly they claim it.

This does not agree with what I’ve seen of patriots for the entire history of the country.
