Please remember to go to your local library board meetings when possible. Libraries need our vocal support. The crazy fuckers go. You need to be there to shut them down.

This is literally how the Christian Right took control of the GOP.

Back in the 1970s a televangelist named Jerry Falwell did an actual grassroots coup. If the local Republican club got 30 people at the average meeting, Falwell’s folks would show up with twice as many.

They started out grabbing up things like county clerks and sheriffs, and then moved on the Congress members.

At issue is about $22,000 in state funding. Since the showdown began, the library has raised more than $100,000 in community donations.

    That’s how you do it!

The board also discussed a new code change that expands on what is inappropriate. This will include any books that feature positive portrayals of transgender characters. Library director Kelyn Ralya estimated the change to take effect on Feb. 14.

    Fucking scumbags

Brave New World has to be on the list. In many ways we already walked into the brave new world while worrying about 1984

Wow. This is my hometown, and I’m proud they are willing to stand their ground. The librarian in the children section that I used to frequent was wonderful, but I’m sure she passed away a while ago.
