Yes, I value scientific research over some subjective random comment on Lemmy. Weird, I know.

Apparently that’s a myth according to every source I could find about wasps in the US.
They seek out your breath, so people start panicking swinging wildly and running away, which in return might be considered a threat for the wasp.
Hold your breath and walk away.
Killed wasps on the other hand attract other wasps out for revenge, if the nest is somewhere nearby.
Do they really attack on sight?
Here it’s usually that they seek out the breath because of the monoxide and people start panicking because the ly fly into their face and seemingly wont go away. So they Start swinging their arms at the wasp and it feels in danger and attacks.
Easiest solution is to hold breath and walk away if they bother you.
I’m from germany, and it indeed is in summer, even in large cities. Wasps come in with the customers and wont leave.

I prefer desease free wasp food over pigeon and rat shit in my cooked food.
I guess in the end I eat both. I try to buy locally whenever possible, but I guess sugar is hard to source locally.
Don’t watch videos of raw food material transportation like grain or sugar.
A bit of shit on our food gives us some needed trace elements.
Africanised bees will be like that, but we don’t really have them in europe as far as I know.
Wasps usually only get really stingy if you disturb their nest or come way too close to it.
You’ll find wasps in almost any bakery in summer. Also in and around garbage cans.
You grab the pastry and they will usually fly away and settle onto the next one a bit later.
vxx@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Type of key? And how to get broken part out of lock?7·1 day agoI would remove it from the door, apply sewing machine oil and then slam it onto a surface until a part appears that I can grab with pliers.
I have never done this and it might not work but destroy your lock.

Considering Gas powered leafblowers from Husqvarna are often 6-8kg heavier (up to 10kg for the big ones), you can carry around at least 3 extra batteries without adding weight.

But even in germany it’s okay because it hasn’t really rained that much this year (yay climate change), so it’s hot but bearable. It’s 31°C with “only” 45% right now.
We will get 37°C the next days, so I might change my stance.
vxx@lemmy.worldtoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Gas-powered leaf blowers are being banned across US2·1 day agoDo you just assume that Gas powered leafblowers are lighter or did you do some research?
I did a Quick check and found that electric leafblowers are way lighter and allow you to carry around some extra batteries, without carrying more overall.
Imo the biggest argument is the price.
vxx@lemmy.worldtoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Gas-powered leaf blowers are being banned across US5·1 day agoElectric leafblowers should do a better Job than Gas powered. Linear motors are just better. That’s why basically any EV let’s Gas powered cars behind at traffic lights.
A lot of lumberjacks use electric saws more and more.
The downside obviously is that you cant just refill it on the spot.

That’s true and it’s kind of bad to have them where you’re walking daily. That’s when I would do something as well.
I already said that in my first comment.
Theyre an important part of the ecosystem though. Pest killer number one. If there’s constantly wasps settling near you, there’s a reason.
