I’ve always heard that weed smokers have less dreams, but as someone who kinda started doing it more regularly within the last year, I haven’t experienced that? Honestly I think I tend to have more vivid and weird dreams when I’ve smoked before bed. Do some people not get the REM suppression?

I think that this is making fun of the people who were upset at Ariel being black in the remake. The people this is making fun of don’t care about recasting race until it’s done from a white character to a black one. It’s pointing out hypocrisy.

School isn’t just learning the stuff in the classes. It’s the shared experience too. It’s the teachers holding you accountable for learning.

“Going to school” is a very different thing than just trying to learn on your own. Self motivation and time are a huge barrier for a lot of people. I think the OP was imagining being able to go to school every day and just take classes for free with other people also interested.

Almost all the airlines are doing that these days.

Until we can make crossing those lines painful for those companies, they’ll keep doing it. Unfortunately, I think convenience is always going to beat morality if you leave it to “voting with your dollar”, we need actual regulations from our governments to combat this shit.

Over COVID, we started a bad/cult movie night that I streamed over Discord. Streaming via Twitch/Youtube would get copyright struck immediately. Streaming over Discord worked, but you have no real control over stream quality, and often the stream quality is based on the person with the worst connection. You also are locked to 30/60 FPS, which sometimes causes small frame weirdness when most movies are at 24.

An easy, self hosted solution is exactly what I wanted at the time. I played with setting up a streaming server but it ended up being too much of a headache at the time.

There’s a ton of valid reasons to self host. Just because you can’t think of any doesn’t mean it’s pointless.

So what’s the point of posting it? If it’s so obvious and all that you really need to know, why are so many people still fat?

The unsaid part of “it’s simple, it’s just calories in calories out” is the implied “and people who don’t get this are just lazy/dumb/it’s a moral failing.” Maybe this isn’t what you are intending, but it is kinda at the root of a lot of hate that fat people get.

The discussion around weight is changing because we’re starting to look into and understand the psychological components of weight, IN ADDITION TO the actual phsysiological processes of weight loss. Lots of “normal” day to day tips and “common sense” is being investigated and debunked. Shit is hard and complicated. Food is being engineered to be addictive. Some people literally don’t have easy access to healthy food.

It’s definitely hard to know when being overly enthusiastic ends and when love bombing begins. I agree that it isn’t always necessarily malicious but, as with most everything, clear open communication is the solution.

401ks have specific limits on how much you can contribute. Most big wealth comes from ownership of stock and other assets.

It’s one thing for a politician to say whatever to get elected and then go the opposite way. Actually changing positions based on new information and what you think is what voters need is exactly what a politician SHOULD do. I never get this complaint… I guess it’s just that people don’t trust that politicians are ever genuine?

I used to play on a few Day of Defeat: Source servers, and I met a ton of great online friends there. That’s because they were dedicated and moderated servers that kicked and banned people for being assholes, in or out of voice chat.

But… If you’re confident that you’re never going to see the people in your match again, it’s way easier to be assholes to them.

There is no reason to display “100%” in your UI for more than a single second. Either show 99% and then finish, or show 100% only when you are ACTUALLY done and only show it for a little.

If you’re still doing ANYTHING AT ALL don’t say you’re 100% complete. How is it still like this

It’s similar to confirmation bias, but I think that’s the wrong name for the phenomenon. Confirmation bias is when we don’t question things that align with our world view and reject things that don’t align with it. It’s certainly related to a desire for a sense of superiority, but there is something about that specific rush of neurotransmitters.

This is definitely my experience, even as a fairly social ADHD haver. I think sometimes I come on too strong because I’m trying to figure out and meet people’s expectations, though I think I’m not great at evaluating what exactly those are and heavily overestimate a lot.

Like most liberal women, she has been relentlessly slagged in the media since she got any amount of recognition. I’d look more closely at her actual politics and history, because while it isn’t perfect, it certainly is different than how the public seems to (negatively) perceive her.
