In Germany too and I always found them strange. At least at our closest supermarket they recently got phased out and replaced with cashless self checkouts.

Same in Germany. Lots of people avoid digital transactions and almost exclusively pay in cash. It’s always weird for me to see huge lines at the cashier while the self checkout is completely empty.

Need to artificially inflate the numbers for their braindead investors somehow before it all comes crashing down like it should have a long time ago.

I checked with a US VPN and it was still showing as Lake Ontario but I was logged into my European account. So it might be either some caching thing or tied to the account location.

They even seem to have some automations for it. The route to my old apartment was shown wrong and delivery drivers almost always popped up on the wrong side of my building behind my backyard. I tried to fix this but my edits were automatically rejected as being malicious. That’s one reason I don’t use Google Maps for navigation anymore.
Edit: Just checked again. It’s still wrong on Google Maps, still correct on Apple Maps.
All screen resolutions also need to fit DIN paper aspect ratios.

That sucks. For us it’s been working great for a few years already but we’re also all based in the same city, usually share a lot with each other, often meet (and log into the same wifi) and possibly most importantly, we’re based in the EU where tech companies are usually less anti-consumer as they’re more worried about fines.

Currently I‘m sharing a premium family subscription with as many users as Google allows which is like 6€ for each user.
If Google ever cracks down on sharing or this gets much more expensive (because even 6€ is too much IMO) we’re probably just gonna cancel the subscription altogether.
LLMs are big statistical networks that determine the following word in a sentence. If two words are just as likely to follow, Claude is gonna pick the next word based on a secret key and somehow this can be looked up later. That appears to be the gist of it if I understood it correctly.

Yep that absolutely works. I‘m a freelancer and I‘m regularly hosting some events related to work topics in my city and got at least 2 big clients through that. All my other clients I also got through recommendations from friends, relatives and other clients.
Imagine walking 50m. The horror

Ended season 2 after a few episodes. S01 was great but with S02 it dropped off a cliff. Maybe a got a better afterwards but I wouldn’t know.

Only if you also host it yourself. I connected my domain to proton and it works great. Best part is though that you can switch the host whenever and nobody is even gonna notice. Your address will stay the same and you can even migrate over your mailbox to new providers.

Also worth comparing to graphics cards here. After the crypto mining boom, prices didn’t drop significantly. Expensive cards were just the new baseline because gamers need graphics cards and do not have many alternatives to look elsewhere.

I see similar comments every now and then. What exactly is missing here for you? There’s a community for almost anything except some niche topics

Thank you. This also removed the incredibly obnoxious AI chat on the side that my ad blocker didn’t catch.

I agree but I think it’s much easier the other way around. First improve the infrastructure, then incentivize people to use it.
Kinda what GDPR tried and now the internet is almost unusable because greedy companies put cookie banners on every fucking site

Exactly, I‘m German and it happens here a lot. My street is particularly bad because there’s not enough street parking - which would be a good thing if they actually punished people parking on the sidewalk.
Is that being enforced? My experience in rural Romania has been that traffic laws are generally being ignored. Never been more scared than taking a Taxi in rural Romania lol.
