Hello everybody. We have arrived at another Gaming Sunday. Hope you have all had a good week. This week I was out of town for most of it but I played some more Outer Worlds 2 and a lil balatro on my phone. Hope you all have a great week ahead
Started Hollow Knight, enjoying what little I’ve played so far.
I managed to beat Pokerogue! With a monotype ghost team, just in time for halloween

played some Palia with my fianceé, it’s a fun cozy mmo
the cash shop is a little egregious but is a 5/10 on the predatory scalealso got into Probably Stolen, a fun cyberpunky shopkeeper game with a surprising amount of depth to it

Finally finished my first playthroughs of most of the Metal Gear franchise (in order I binged MGS1, 2, 3, 4, PW, Rising, MG1, MG2, 5). Never played anything from this series at its peak so it’s been interesting going through it all these years later.
5 and PW are really scratching the grinder itch and I do want to plat all of these, so I’m slowly working through this one and I’ll work backwards to wrap them up. Funny enough narratively I felt 5 was the weakest of all of them, but is still a good time.
I do own Delta too but from the little I’ve seen of it it just seems like it loses a lot of the art style and is more of a remaster than a remake, everything seems practically 1:1 minus the controls. Very odd, and it’s clear Kojima wasn’t involved, so I might just pass on this one. I definitely need to replay 3 though - for some reason it really didn’t click with me at all.
Other than that, my Steam Frame comes in today so looking forward to seeing what’s new in the VR space, haven’t really done anything with it since like 2022 when my Index shit the bed.
Still slogging through the PC port of Final Fantasy IV 3D Remake. I got to the final dungeon in my first playthrough, hoping to get the Treasure Hunter augment (for 100% map completion on every zone) when, to my horror, I did not get it. I revisited all of the non-one-time-only zones to check for map completion, and couldn’t find any that weren’t 100%. I ended up saying “fuck it,” went back to the final dungeon, and blundered my way into the room with the final boss without bothering to do any additional level grinding; I had Cecil at about 76 with a fucked up augment load-out (due to stat grinding) and everyone else in the low to mid 60s, and I figured if I beat him, I beat him. If not, I wasn’t really planning on succeeding in the first place, since it was hard difficulty, after all.
I beat Zeromus on the first try. I wouldn’t say “without breaking a sweat,” because it definitely got dicey a couple of times there (partly on account of Cecil not having a “Fight” command while also being immune to Berserk status), but I got him down before Edge had to start throwing literal kitchen sinks at him. I immediately turned around and started a New Game+ save to try to speedrun until I found my missing zone completion for Treasure Hunter.
A tale of two screenshots (Tower of Zot, 5F, about three hours later):

I’m playing Gunstar Heroes, cool game so far! The stages all feel really unique and are a lot of fun to play. I’m also giving Alex Kidd in Miracle World a try since today is its 40th anniversary. I’ve only played a little but it seems alright! It’s kinda tough to control but you can take your time with it, and I like how you can create safer paths by breaking blocks carefully. Doesn’t matter for the game itself but the US box art is a major downgrade lol.

Gunstar Heroes is such a classic, I fucking love that game
It’s really fun! My only other experience with Treasure games is some of Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, but I definitely need to play some more games from them in the future because it seems like they’ve just got it.
Just finished by 4th playthrough of Dishonored, and started playing Cyberpunk again since I only played it for a few hours when it was first released.
I’ve been playing Queen’s Domain. Once I got my head around how stamina works in it, I started to enjoy it a lot. The art style and soundtrack create an incredible vibe, and it has some really creative enemy design.
My partner and I been deep into FE Fortunes Weave. He’s almost done with Leda’s part one and I’m about 75-80% Dietrich’s. It’s honestly been pretty great to play each of the intro parts separately and then we’ll play the latter parts together.
It’s just one of those games with a wild number of systems yet doesn’t feel too bloated. I feel it’s truly an improvement over three houses in just about every way possible.
I’ve been playing Castlevania Belmont’s Curse. I already got all the 3 endings and the game is genuinely incredible, I’m just playing it again for the “beat under 4 hours” achievement, since it’s the only one missing. I even made it into a challenge run by cutting my damage by half and doubling enemy and environmental damage.
I have also been playing Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow on my Switch, just got the double jump there. So far it’s pretty cool.
Other than that I have been playing Overwatch with my trans bestie! She’s incredible and it’s been a lot of fun so far! I’ll try to get her into Deadlock soon :3
Also she’s a big Sonic fan so I’m gonna use this opportunity to finally get into Sonic, my autistic brain yearns for it.

Queens domain came out (it’s a kings field like) but I haven’t had a chance to start it since I’m work on blasphemous 2 still. It continues to be an excellent metroidvania, accidentally went into the dlc area and finished everything except the boss there lol.
I have fire emblem, dragons dogma 2 on the back burner. And slowly chipping away at pony Island in prep for the sequel next year.
Adding this mid week update. I started Queens domain… Holy shit this is amazing. Probably will be my game of the year.
REKA (yes, the title is stylized all caps), a cozy cottage building game where you play as the Baba Yaga’s assistant/apprentice and go around solving problems for people and woodland spirits and building your chicken legged witch hut
More self hosted Project Ozone 3 (modded Minecraft). I started reconstruction on my island about a year ago when the server went down. Its been up about 2 months again since moving it to an m70q think center and its doing good. I made basically a massive cube, with 4 block thick walls then made “shelves” with the center of the cube hollow all the way up for easy flying between levels. There is so much space it is ridiculous and it looks much better than the cobblestone patchwork you get when you just play and lay new things down. So anyways, I rushed to just the stuff I wanted to build this, so now I am going back through the modpack and doing the stuff I skipped and building fancy rooms for the factory lines. Its great.
Finished my Treize Khushrenada inspired playthrough of Skyrim. One of the hardest rules beyond survival mode (in it the cold is more of a threat to you than any monster) is I chose not to use enchanting because Treize would see it as an affront to finality.
(IIRC, soul gems literally put the victim’s soul in the item where they suffer for eternity.)
Beat Metal Slug 2 and the wild part, 15 continues same as 1, didn’t plan that.
