$299 USD? Yeah right. I think I’m just gonna look for a used 4K model at this point.
I was going to buy this when it came out. But, not anymore after seeing the price.
It doesn’t do twice as much as a refurb from last generation and the RAM bump and 128GB storage seem unnecessary for me. If all of that is just for Siri “AI” enhancements, I don’t see the point.
The 128GB offering is such a tease because 30-40GB of that will probably be dedicated to Siri anyway.
and the ancient Nvida Shield Pro got zero spec bump and a price nrise …fark!
No mention of 120hz or VRR, meh.
Honest question, why would you want 120hz out of a streaming box?
Edit: Also your link says it will rock HDMI 2.1, so your 120hz might be covered.
Moonlight game streaming, smoother scrolling, high fps sports streams.
What sports are broadcast at 120fps?
One reason could be framerates. A typical films framerate is 24, if you are on 60 hz it doesnt divide, but 120hz does. This should actually result in less stutter in films especially when the camera is panning.
The Apple TV already changes the framerate according to the video. If you play a 24hz video, it will be put out with 24hz.
I had been mulling over switching out the older of my two ATV’s but not at that price! Mine still does everything I need it to.
Even if I was in the market to replace the one I don’t use anymore, $300 is way too expensive.
Meanwhile, my Gen-1 developer edition AppleTV works just fine.
