Games called arknights, for some new expansion or something called “People, A people”
I just really enjoy the music and the art. Whoever did it should get a coffee and a bagel bought for them
It’s one of those mobile gatcha games isn’t it? I think I’ve been hired to draw characters from it once or twice. I was suspicious of them at first, thought they would be very CHUD focused, but they do actually seem to be trying to drip feed class consciousness to westerners.
I wouldn’t read much into the politics based on one trailer lol. The antagonists of the first two major arcs are revolutionaries that have GONE TOO FAR and minorities who commit atrocities because they were discriminated against, respectively.
Further, beyond any in-game politics, as a gacha it is fundamentally designed around exploiting gambling addicts.
of course

That was my first impressions going in years back, but speaking as someone who’s gone through the main story and is mostly caught up on it now I will personally argue it’s not quite as simple as that, considering how the story with said antagonists has developed since then.
But I’m also not the kind of person who wants to argue with anyone who’s already made up their mind.
I know about it exclusively because lesbians draw yuri of it tbh.

I wish I got hired to draw yuri of it.

I dunno if they commission yuri of it, all the gay Arknights fans I know do it for the love of the game apparently…

It hurts to have your job become redundant

Do you get commissioned for yuri very often?

Not usually, people who are into Yuri usually draw it themselves.
I wouldn’t know if I’d call arknights a silly mobile game they have something like 700k monthly users lol. Neat ad though I wonder if some external studio did it or it was in house
Arknights is the silliest and most mobile of games, matter of fact

It’s the most recent side story that’s coming to the global servers. I find this very peculiar because of the events of the recent chapter on global (CH 16), which I definitely feel this side story is heavily tied into since it
spoiler
Follows a group of miners from Ursus (Arknights Russia) following a revolt against the Ursus military. Ursus plans to massacre the miners post-revolt as part of a cover-up operation to hide the drying up of the originium veins. Bunch of miners died, but one of the characters was able to broadcast what was going on throughout the country, leading to nationwide revolts. But that’s if I’m remembering the plot correctly, I’ll admit as much as I enjoy reading the story a lot of things can just kinda pass over my head.
And also the chapter boss is basically Rasputin.
At some point I realized I was basically viewing a retelling of Russian history lol
But other than that, Arknights has no shortage of banger trailers.

This trailer goes hard, this is making me want to play it, damn.
Honestly I’ve been thinking about playing some gacha for a while, does anyone have good f2p-friendly recs?
Arknights is fine as far as f2p goes, you get something like 500 free pulls a year, plus the usual kickstart for new players. The only things you gacha for are characters. The odds of getting one of the highest rarity (six-star) characters is 2%, with a pity that starts at 50 pulls without a six-star. The odds increase by 2% per pull until you are guaranteed one at 100 pulls without. It has all of the typical tricks to get you into the habit of playing it, like an energy system and automated resource-gathering to collect. Almost all gameplay is possible with common, low-rarity characters, and a handful of lower-rarity characters still show up in higher difficulty clears.
Gameplay-wise, it’s closest to a tower defense. Every event brings about new gimmicks, some fun, some not. This event’s gimmick is staying out of range of rotating sentry towers. Not sure how fun it would be to play normally as I just brute-forced it. There are a bunch of modes that’ve shown up over the years in addition to the main gameplay, but most of them are temporary. The only permanent modes are a kind of roguelike (with 6 different versions) and a fairly odd resource collection and base-building mode. The current temporary mode is the third iteration of an autobattler.
Story-wise, it’s a visual novel. I’m not a fan of that format so I stopped reading the events years ago and only keep up through vibes and character briefings. At one point I tried reading some stories from a fan-site that made them more like a book, but still ended up dropping it. Some people online seem to like some of the more recent stories (Lone Trail in particular seems well-liked), but I frankly can’t say anything in this department.
It’s been running for 7 years, which is both good and bad. Good because there’s tons of game to play, bad because, for instance, this event is a continuation of a side story from years ago and also kind of a sequel/companion to the two latest main story chapters.
Oh that’s pretty cool to know, I’ve searched a little bit about it and only found that it is f2p-friendly and a tower defense, didn’t know about the rest.
I just need to find how to play on Linux since my phone is too old and can barely hold a charge for 6 hours, let alone use it constantly for an hour.
I have been looking into CZN too. From what I’ve seen it’s a bit too goon-baity but I guess it comes from the territory. Heard the gameplay is fire tho.
Also do you know if Endfields is any good?

There’s a windows PC client FWIW, but I’ve never used it so no recommendations there.

Never played it, I’ve heard the satisfactory-style optimizing gameplay is pretty simplified but decent. The characters seem more gooner might it might just be a case of 2D vs 3D.
