      No, they’re not. They’re pushing on the workers who are not the ones in a position to offer fair wages. If they were on more stable economic footing, they would be able to strike and organize more easily so actively pushing on the workers directly is counter intuitive rather than pushing on the restaurants themselves. Even boycotting the restaurant completely would be more effective as that is also felt by the business owners.

      I’m all for paying people a living wage but these tourists and their symbolic actions will change nothing. Black Americans have been boycotting tipping culture for decades with no effect.
