Everything else aside, we do not call soccer football. Instead, ‘football’ is what we call the worst and most boring and most physically injurious sport in the entire world, known to you as American Football.

Please don’t come here only to get shot downtown trying to watch a sport we don’t care about over here.

I know this topic has passed, but I didn’t have a social media account back then.

If you can afford it, you can come to Toronto/Vancouver to watch football, European (Northern Super League and MLS) or Canadian (CFL) style (Or, Mexico for FIFA and local soccer leagues!)

You probably won’t get shot, and if you feed off rabid fan-energy, go and see a Saskatchewan Roughriders game. CFL is like American, but 3 downs means there’s less staring at a line and more kicking and passing. Check out [email protected]

I am a born and raised Saskatchewan being, so by default I am a Riders fan, it is amazing watching games the Riders are not in vs games the Riders are in.

Canadians and Europeans say the wildest shit.

Because of my demographic, I cannot leave the country. I am not allowed to have a passport.

Gridiron isn’t the most boring sport in the world. Golf holds that crown. It’s not the most physically injurious sport either. Rugby alone is approximately double the injury rate per thousand hours. There’s probably worse out there, like very probably MMA.

Rugby is a lot safer for serious injuries because there’s less stoppage and no padding. Also there isn’t hitting involved.

Hockey is probably worse though because you can reach higher speeds and have less balance, however the slipperiness will save you from some leg injuries.

I watched Olympic archery on TV one time, it was like watching a Wii Sports Resort livestream at 0.1x speed.

still seems like a sport that has more of a chance of catching on in America than soccer.

Legitimately it took DECADES after things like baseball and football and soccer were televised to figure out how to make golf watchable on broadcast, and the major tourneys basically had to overhaul large parts of their rules to make it work.

I forgot about the existence of golf. This is a sport for very rich people that the average person does not play.

We don’t play rugby. Most people won’t know what that is.

        You were saying?

News flash: the USA isn’t the entire world.

I’m super uninterested in watching sports, but as someone who lives in a city with a soccer team, you’re wrong. Soccer gets a lot of viewers, just not as much as football does.

Huh, when I was growing up soccer was the sport that older guys projected their gay feelings onto, as in “soccer is a gay sport, look at those men in those shorts, it’s so gay, look how gay they are. I can’t help but stare at them because they’re so gay”

That was football when I was growing up. All those tight asses in their tight pants.

As suspected, Europeans are more comfortable being gay. I guess that’s always been true.
