Solar energy exports from China to the rest of the world surged in March 2026 as the world scrambles for fossil fuel alternatives.

In March, one month into the US-Iran war that began on February 28, the People’s Republic doubled the number of solar panels it was exporting, distributing 68 gigawatts of photovoltaic cells and silicon wafers.

          I’m not saying he did, just that this is how history will remember him. The slave owners and rapists that started a war just take over land from the king and become the new elites are now remembered as great thinkers and the founders of democracy. If fascist will take over US (and it looks like they will) they will make sure future history books remember Trump as the greatest strategist that has ever lived.

    I don’t know how much to attribute to the war in Iran. The Chinese government ended a tax rebate program for exported solar panels effective April 1, so all the producers rushed their capacity to get as many as they could out the door.

    Now that production costs are 10-15% higher for panels exported in April than the panels exported in March, we’d want to see how April’s numbers compare, once that data is published in about a month.

    All I know is that our panels, our battery, and out inverter are all from China, because nothing else delivered anything near similar value.
    Our neighbor ordered a system from a contractor that made a total (and more expensive) upgrade of the entire energy system of the house, including air to water heat pump, and his panels are Chinese too, which I know because I saw them before they were mounted.
    He paid about 50% more than we did, and it was still Chinese panels.

    Hyundai makes good value panels too that were available from the same contractor, that could also have been a good choice, but we went with the Chinese panels because they were almost 30% better value.

    Everything else was about 50% more expensive!!!
