An interesting new take on Trek includes some characters you already know.
Finally got to see it and I don’t think it’s for me. After reading a lot of positive and negative reviews, I think that liking this show or not really depends on what Star Trek means to you personally. For me, it was just missing too much of what I go to star trek for to be enjoyable.
I miss real Trek.
I’ve resorted to watching the Orville. Some how it has the closest vibe, even if it’s a comedy
Straight up continuation of TNG and the movies as a live action show and a good actor/actress as the new captain of the Enterprise is all we need
paramount says get fucked millennials.
Stop exploring yourselves you egotistical hacks and get back to exploring the damned universe you fuckwits.
I don’t hate it either. But is it just me or does it seem a little too militaristic? Maybe it’s part of the plot, but the push-up scene in the first episode was just weird and there was something in the second episode.
The main premise of the show is that starfleet kinda got a bit too authoritarian after the burn, and is trying to get back to its ideals. It’s a bit weird but it’s not nonsensical.
It also has huge potential. As we learned in First Contact, the Earth was coming out of World War III and it was the event of first contact that caused the world to come together. The Burn lasted about 100 years, which is at least a few generations of humanity and now we’re coming out of that.
Once again the Earth is moving from war to the Federation. Sure it’s a little easier this time, but no transition at that scale is a fast one.
I’m guessing one of the first big themes of Starfleet Academy will be getting to know and understand the “War College”, initially as rivals. Then in the future (later seasons) I expect they’ll begin to merge.
Maybe they should kick out the Jem’Hadar then.
there’s also the “war college”.
Starfleet is a navy
I don’t hate it either… as I sit here waiting for the franchise’s long-overdue return to form.
I rather enjoyed the first episode!
No. Another horrible wet fart from Alex Kurtzman.
gross he made another series, when will he ever learn, hes not TREK material showrunner.it look terrible from the trailer, im not surprised.
Better than a kick in the crotch… I mean better than Discovery.
It feels like a secondary show to what ends up being the flagship show after Kirk takes the helm. It’s ok and probably not for me. I just wish there was a compelling character other than the doctor.
a replicant show of STD.
I just wish there was a compelling character other than the doctor.
You don’t think that Lura Thok, a Jem’Hadar/Klingon is a compelling character‽
Haven’t had my coffee yet so apologies if I missed the implied /s. I like the actor and I think they’re a good comic but I don’t think the casting choices were great.
