In 2024, Google Wallet introduced a “verify it’s you” requirement, and now appears to be extending that to the entire Android app.

This keeps catching me out and it’s so annoying. Even more so when the cashier has to do something manual on the terminal to attempt the payment again.

What happened to just needing to unlock the device?
