Booker: “I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I’ve been inadequate to the moment. I’ve confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say ‘we will do better.’”

    • Everything being done by the republicans is atrocious.
    • Trump isn’t going for legislation, he’s just signing executive orders.
    • Having someone visibly stand up, draw attention, and say “this isn’t OK” is something some people need to hear, especially to get them to support and/or join in protest.

Sure you could complain that it isn’t enough. And by itself, it isn’t.

    It still isn’t nothing.

I don’t want to hear “this isn’t ok” from Cory Booker, one of the most outspoken Zionists in the entire US government. He has no moral framework to stand upon. He’s a proponent of genocide and his contention with Trump is largely theatrical. If he truly had a backbone or even a soul there are a million better choices he could have made before reaching this point.

This guy has taken $893,998 from AIPAC. He’s paid for just like the rest. Fuck this guy.

Letting “perfect” be the enemy of “good”.

Cory Booker is far from perfect. But i will commend any good choice, and this is one of them.

He and his party are responsible for an ongoing genocide, the worst humanitarian crisis currently.

He’s personally responsible for helping funnel money to Israel for them to kill Palestinian civilians. This political stunt isn’t changing that.

Do you support this genocidal maniac’s stance?

I would actually say its much worse under a Republican administration

It’s not though, and the fact that you think it is just shows how much of a genocide denier you were when it was your team doing it. At least with Trump, you people while actually acknowledge it’s happening.

There isn’t a snowballs chance in hell anyone is going to convince me Trump has been and/or will be a more positive result for anyone in Gaza.

Enjoy your evening (or day, time zone depending).

He hasn’t stopped being one of Israel’s staunchest supporters. Cory Booker voted to approve Trump’s nomination for CIA head, John Ratcliffe, a former US house representative. Ratcliffe has also been one of Israel’s staunchest allies, such as supporting Israeli strikes on Iranian territory. Booker also voted to confirm Marco Rubio, Trump’s appointee to Secretary of State. Why can’t you see this? Booker is a snake and can’t be trusted if this is how he conducts himself.

Booker is a clown, that’s what this has to do with what he’s doing right now. He isn’t sincere and any supposed problems he has with “demagoguery” pales in comparison to Booker’s own ghoulish support of continued genocide. You’re asking us to respond positively to a proponent of genocide yelling at another proponent of genocide. Ok, Booker is telling people to resist Trump. By doing what exactly? Voting? Throwing molotovs?

Oh I know something you can do to protest Trump and it’s even peaceful. You can support the BDS movement, where you boycott Israeli goods. That would make sense given the Trump administration’s unwavering support of Israel.

Oh except Booker has repeatedly attempted to criminalize BDS, he’s in full support of defining anti-Zionism as antisemitism, and I can’t even find any evidence Booker has mentioned Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia student who was thrown into federal detention for the supposed crime of being pro-Palestine.

Ive never heard of BDS, thanks for mentioning it.

                bdsmovement.net is them, correct?

As far as the rest goes, I think I’ve been clear that I am supporting an action. Just like of a hard right wing jackass were to speak about dropping any and all support of Israel and their genocide, I would be supportive of the action said jackass was taking. I would still hate them for what they’ve done, but I won’t boo them while they are doing the right thing.

Take the approach you want for yourself, I will continue to support good (or better described here, preventing bad I guess?) actions being taken.

Cory Booker is a murderer and war criminal. The bodies of thousands of Palestinian children lay at his feet. He’s not good in any respect. Stop doing apologia for genocide. In a just world he’d be at the Hague right now on trial with the rest of his colleagues. Fuck this guy. Death to Israel. Death to America.

Don’t deflect; instead of an ultimately performative action, why didn’t he do this when it could have done some actual good and possibly protected people by blocking one or more of trump’s policies?

I know that sincerely engaging with this question may be intellectually uncomfortable for you, but please at least attempt to critically revaluate your pre-conceived notions about the American political system and the goals of the DNC, establishment democrats and their megadonors

You’re engaging in a comment thread I began lmao, and my attitude in asking you a very simple question in why didn’t he wait to perform this gesture when it would actually have an effect is enough to stop you engaging? really?

That’s the spirit that’ll beat trump, hopefully you’re rich and white enough that your complacency won’t affect you personally 🙄
