not to even mention that time he outright said Russia had a right to invade Ukraine
Hasan has since said he was wrong on that point, and has since retracted said opinion and instead argued for the sovereignty of Ukraine as any other nation state, including Palestine. He reiterates this at least on a weekly basis to correct people like you that show up in the chat of his Twitch channel.
The fact that you’re using this example as a way to discredit Hasan however is demonstrative of how emotional you’re approaching this situation and how little you’ve done your own research to double check your views over time.
Or that time he called the jdam hitting a hospital in Gaza killing 500 people only for it to turn out to be a misfired rocket hitting a parking lot.
If you’re talking about the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital explosion, then the jury’s still out on exactly what happened. Neither Israel, Hamas, nor the PIJ have provided visual evidence of what may have caused the hospital explosion. We won’t know what happened unless an independent organization like the UN can go there (and be safe to do their investigation, although Israel has broken this accord many times now). It also appears that the main missile people claim caused the hospital explosion has been debunked.
Have you asked Hasan recently what he thinks on the matter: to double check and/or correct your views? Do you acknowledge that early on in the Gaza War, things were messy, and what Hasan and other might have believed at one time could have changed as new evidence presents itself? Does your world view allow for progress, or are you a moral conservative that lives in some crystallisation of the past?
But he’s so confident. All the time.
Because he has to protect himself and his community on an increasingly frequent basis due to him and his community being in the minority, and when it comes to people like you espousing caricatures and false perceptions of their opinions on the matter. Are you of a minority? Which one? Do you have your life exposed to the broader public on a daily basis, and are forced to stand your ground multiple times a day?
Not to mention his toxic community and fans (Frogan) saying the most despicable shit ever.
Are you referring to when Frogan and her Arabic friends did a tier list of who can say the word “Habibi” (Arabic for “my love”) or not? And if they qualify, they get a “Habibi” pass? A concept called racial passing where members of a certain race wished to be seen as belonging to a different race, and to obtain that race’s “pass”? And how they called the lowest tier “Sabra”, in relation to the Israeli hummus company?
Sabra isn’t the best hummus for starters. Some people refer to it as the McDonald’s of hummus, where there are many better alternatives. The name Sabra refers to the Sabra and Shatila massacre in which IDF-backed forces killed 1-4k Palestinians and Lebanese people’s. Many people and organizations have chosen to boycott Sabra because the company’s holding company directly supports the IDF’s military. I think it’s fair to call the lowest tier of person to receive a Habibi pass Sabra because said company in part funds a genocide. This is akin to calling that person a Nazi.
They are not healthy people and it’s all a big performative joke.
Have you watched Ethan’s content? Have you seen Ethan dismiss Hasan’s requests to talk about their issues in real time? Because all Ethan does is try to clip Hasan out of context so he can get people less involved in the context of the situation to agree with him and come to his side.
Start Edit:
Since when was it healthy for a person to have a disjointed conversation with someone like Ethan does with clips? Are we trying to normalize that behavior? What if you did that in real life? Would people treat you weirdly if you popped in and out of their life, quoting them incorrectly? Seems to me that would piss off a lot of people, and that surely shouldn’t be the way we conduct our society if we wish to make moral, epistemological, and metaphysical progress.
:End Edit
There are hours of YouTube videos disproving Hasan lies.
If you did, you’d already have all of the answer to my above questions. But you retain old news because you don’t keep us with Hasan’s content, and likely insulate yourself in Ethan’s echo chamber.
Also, the guy doesn’t do debates any more because he’s a whiny loser who cries because he can’t spend five minutes to do the most basic of basic research before forming an opinion.
Every time Ethan has called Hasan out of asked Hasan to watch the video, Hasan has said that he’d be willing to do a live debate and get the facts straight. Ethan every time has been a coward and refused to talk to Hasan live. Oh, and Hasan doesdebate. All Ethan does is shrivel up in his bubble and hide.
There are WAY better leftie content to follow on YT/Twitch. Start with Loner Box maybe. Anyone really.
You’re missing the forest for the trees. The cherry picked examples are not at all interesting or what I’m referring to.
It’s wonderful that he’s since retracted his position on Ukraine. It’s wonderful that he’s changed his tune on the hospital bombing. That’s not the issue.
The problem is the pattern.
He jumps to conclusions that fit his narrative and speaks with extreme confidence on things he knows almost nothing. It’s strange, because he has a poli Sci degree. But the most research I’ve seen him do on stream is read Twitter headlines.
I don’t care for Ethan either. I’m not interested in defending him. But Frogan has said WAY more despicable things than the Habibi thing. That’s not even relevant. Frogans charged language earned a temp ban on Twitch. The way she also called Ethan throughout the fallout was also despicable. But hey, it’s just Hasans community. He has no control over it, right?
Also, Hasan can’t handle the slightest criticism. After he botched that trans debate, a trans person in his chat mentioned some of the things he got wrong. What was Hasans response: he tells that person that he hopes they unalive themselves. Wow. Let’s keep simping for this wonderful individual.
Or that time he endorsed killing babies because after all, even babies of Israeli settlers are also occupiers. Barf.
We haven’t even scratched the surface.
Should I go on? Do you see the pattern now?
I don’t watch Ethan because I don’t like him or care for him. He’s got nothing interesting to say. But my god, do we have to simp for Hasan? Is this the best we got in the twitch political streaming world? Come on…
I have to admit that I’ve only been following Hasan for a little over a year.
I have not seen this pattern you speak of.
He makes conclusions based on political events that happen daily because that’s his job. What’s unique about Hasan though is that he’s willing to update his views over time as new evidence emerges, unlike the MSM.
I’ve seen Hasan do literal journalism on stream, like interviewing the imprisoned firefighters of California during this most recent fire disaster or attending protests and rallies in person, platforming leaders of those movements to amplify their message and cause. I’ve seen Hasan screen documentaries about unions and genocides. I’ve seen Hasan interview US senators, union leaders, and local government representatives across the country to get to the bottom of charged issues (like the Venezuelan apartment gangs story leading up to last year’s election). Hasan may be resistant to covering other social media sites, but he has good reason to stick to Xitter: Elon Musk and a growing fascist movement online are now using that platform to voice their bigoted views. Why run away from that to other forums if Hasan wanted to use those fascist talking points as examples to argue against? Might it be the case that Bluesky, having more strict content moderation, wouldn’t present the same opportunities to dispel myths and dunk on Nazis?
I used the Habibi thing as an example of how people, including Ethan, can take things out of context very quickly. And just because Ethan criticized Frogan for using Sabra as an almost slur doesn’t mean she didn’t have good reason to do so.
What other things do you take issue with that Frogan has said in the past? The soldiers with PTSD issue? How she condemns soldiers that choose to and want to fight the USA’s oftentimes unfounded wars? And her forgiveness to those soldiers that have remorse for fighting for the USA? If you don’t agree with this point, then you are still telling yourself the myth about American exceptionalism.
Do you take issue with how Frogan called her therapist a Zionist, when that’s what her therapist said she was? What about when Ethan took this event out of context and ran with it, assuming that Frogan called her therapist a Zionist, implying some sort of racialized hate? What about all of the despicable and vile shit that Ethan and Hila have said towards Frogan and others? What about those of the H3 community that have come out in direct opposition to Ethan and Hila for their completely unacceptable views towards Palestinians?
Oh, and are you talking about the 30 day ban Twitch placed on Frogan and others who led the Habibi/Sabra panel? That same panel that was allowed to happen at TwitchCon, which was vetted by Twitch ahead of time, and only after the fact Twitch decided to ban are receiving push back from online grifters? And why is this ban singled out, when as Frogan says, people on Twitch are banned for less time if they say pro genocide shit?
He botched the trans debate? Do you mean the debate Hasan had with Christian Walker, son of 2022 Georgia US Senate frontrunner and conservative Herschel Walker? The same Christian Walker that said that “college is a four year vacation” and who would glaze over any time Hasan would bring up facts/statistics or make logical arguments in favor of upholding the rights of trans people? The debate that basically proved that CW doesn’t really believe his anti-trans views, and only does so for clout? The debate where Hasan and his friend Felix spent hours up on hours to try to unpack and get to the bottom of CW’s beliefs, only for CW to be a contrarian and negate every single one of Hasan’s points? It was quite immature of CW to voice those opinions imo.
And are you referring to how Hasan banned someone after the debate for criticizing his trans views and comparing him to an actual bigot, Vaush? After Hasan demonstrated in real time what it meant to be a trans ally for hours upon hours? And how Hasan unbanned that same chatter after learning that they were trans and has since made amends? Would you take criticism well after being in a fight mode for hours on end? And would you unban someone after learning that your behaviors were unfounded? Would you go back and try to fix your mistakes, something that Hasan clearly does?
When did Hasan advocate for killing babies? It seems like you’ve fallen for the clipbait chimp shit from Ethan where he used a clip of Hasan laughing at Al Jazeera’s use of the phrase “offensive propaganda message” referring to the billboard showing Benjamin Netanyahu looking like Count Dracula and calling him out for killing babies. Hasan laughed because that Al Jazeera was putting this fact lightly and implying that this billboard would appear offensive and perhaps untrue or at the very least extrapolated to certain individuals who are partial to Israel. It’s beyond offensive that Israel killed primarily women and children in Gaza. It’s unacceptable. And it’s despicable that Israel spread the lie about Hamas decapitating infants. Netanyahu should go to jail for these acts. Hasan wasn’t advocating for the killing of babies. He was agreeing with Al Jazeera in that Israel’s actions were demonstrably evil.
You are so wrapped up in your own bubble reality that you are unwilling to suspend your ego and actually learn something for once. Jfc
