Before becoming president, Trump sued CBS over 60 Minutes’ interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris shortly before the election. Now, Trump’s newly elevated Federal Communications Commission chairman, Brendan Carr, is using the levers of government to put pressure on the network.

“Now, more than ever, only a fearless press stands between an aggressive [White House] and the public,” former CBS News correspondent Marvin Kalb posted on a Facebook page for CBS alumni. “If news organizations such as CBS bend a knee before a president, then we have all taken a big step towards autocracy.”

CBS tied itself in knots trying not to call Elon Musk’s Nazi salute a Nazi salute. CBS’s management is clearly terrified of offending Trump and his people and desperate to appease them.

CBS actually fired a reporter who, on their personal socials, said “yeah, nazis are bad fuck this guy” essentially. so they fired her.

they’re complicit. they’re on my shitlist along with everything else i’ve quit in the last month.

We need to be against awfulness on every front, but remember, technology is vastly different now then in the 40’s and can connect us all to fantastic effect. The big news stations who bow to nazis may find they don’t survive in the era that comes after their inevitable fall.

Where’s this brave press you speak of? I’ve seen nothing but capitulation over the last several weeks.

Reminder that the former CEO of CBS doing the bidding of shareholders said following Trump’s first election, “Trump may not be good for America, but he’s good for CBS. Keep going, Donald.”

They may have changed executives but the sentiment is 100% the same because all these media outlets are profit above all.
