It’s been a while since the last thread similar to this, so let’s go.

Small note, for ask and casual communities, there are several local versions:
If anyone is looking for the replacement to a specific sub see these directories:
Are those still maintained? The replacement for meme is [email protected], there are still some references to raddle.me, and probably kbin.social as well
Are those still maintained?
I don’t know. They could do with an update but are still decent enough guides for our purposes.
If you are interested in a project, it should be possible to create a page on the Join Fediverse wiki with a list of equivalents that would then be much easier to keep up to date. Probably link it in via “further reading” here:
I might at some point. To be honest, I would prefer if https://lemmyverse.net/communities could have a toggle for “politics”, “news”, “tech” and “memes”
That way the list stays dynamic rather than static, as the ones you listed above
Hello @[email protected], do you think that could happen? 😄
In case anyone’s still checking here for recommendations, here’s a few more reasonably active communities:
- [email protected]: fun or interesting loops (i.e. TikTok/Reels/etc but better)
- [email protected]: Come see the cute characters created by Tove Jansson
- [email protected]: celebrating fun and cool sites across the web
- [email protected]: when you want to feel well-adjusted and normal, look at crazy people’s social media posts
- [email protected]: for the webcomic Cyanide & Happiness
- [email protected]: for the comic The Far Side that we all know and love
- [email protected]: the best that tumblr has to offer
- [email protected]: for cartographers with nothing left to lose
- [email protected]: for nerding out about those handy devices
- [email protected]: Not too short, not too long. Videos to last through your meal.
- [email protected]: A community for a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language
- [email protected]: Look at some nice classic art
- [email protected]: Read the title, then read the twist
- [email protected]: Memes from the days of yore
- [email protected]: See cool art created by AI
- [email protected]: Cozy corner for short stories
- [email protected]: A place for majestic STEMLORD pearemoveding, as well as memes about the realities of working in a lab
- [email protected]: Because sometimes lewd and funny go hand in hand
Thank you!
Is this a thread for recommending communities that aren’t politics, news, memes, or tech? If so, here’s some comic-related communities:
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected] (generally NSFW!)
- [email protected]
And a few other miscellaneous communities:
Indeed, that’s the spirit, thanks for the links!
dropping an Oglaf link without a warning is gonna make for a fun time on public transit
Good call, edited to add a warning
Thanks. I appreciate this kind of post.
All to easy to have a feed full of doom.
Definitely
I made some interesting discovery but (and it is a big but), BUT where are the animals! Lemmy has so many of them:
[email protected] is actually better than its Reddit counter part
We have [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] and !cats@addAnyInstance and cute animals at [email protected] and [email protected] and insects at [email protected]. We have a [email protected] and a collection of [email protected] and so much more…
Superbowl has some excellent posts, and I’m like not even an owl guy (whatever that means.)
Self-plug: [email protected], also active, posts don’t overlap with [email protected]
Also [email protected], though I don’t run that one.
We never got enough bunnies and snakes usually make beautiful pictures!
[email protected] is also fairly active.
Yes… I also love the comics there.
Both [email protected] and [email protected] are pretty active.
Thank you so much for [email protected]
And thank you for the pets and bun_alert_system!
Thanks for tan eggs! I never knew I needed this! xD
I’d like to see more niche communities take off. I want to talk home recording studio, but even if I start it, no one joins.
Please do! We’re slightly more active over at [email protected]
Subbed. I just bought a m audio m- track solo. I’m currently debating using waveform, Cakewalk, or reaper. Maybe I’ll make a post
Go for it!
Also… Reaper.
There is [email protected], maybe you can try to post there to see if people are still interesting? Something as small as “how is everyone doing lately with their home studios” could start a discussion
Ew, a .ml comm
@[email protected] s recommendation for [email protected] is much better
Let’s not grow anymore .ml communities
Yes, I share the feeling. For some reason the SJW community was not showing up in lemmyverse.net
I recently took over [email protected] too!
Ah, that’s promising!
movies/tv:
communities:
- [email protected] - find active communities
- [email protected] - find (usually) active communities
other:
- [email protected] - a series of comic strips/panels. a fediverse original
- [email protected] - mostly about games and movies
Saving, to continue returning.
U can’t see me
My cute puppy: [email protected]
Thanks, a couple of new subs, and since laughs from Dad jokes, as well as groans from my wife…
May I plug my community? [email protected] would love more conversation. No current politics allowed :)
Feel free! Didn’t know about Heinlein, looks like an interesting author!
[email protected] is cool and unique. Not as active lately though.
Did something happen to the main poster?
Yeah they had to focus on their studies
You are a treasure to have on the Fediverse, we are fortunate to have you helping so much:-).
Wasn’t the last post 4 months ago?
Guilty.
No worries, hopefully BBQ enthusiasts will see this post.
If there aren’t enough, you can always cross-post your next post to [email protected]
Well BBQing is traditionally an American thing and it’s winter in the northern hemisphere
Time to find some Australian BBQers!
Also [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected].
When you write them with an @ in front, you are referencing a user. A community is a Lemmy concept and you have to prepend them with a !.
Thanks
The desire paths one 😍
