Hell yeah, congrats! I get back into DCSS every few years but I have only escaped with the orb once, a lucky MiFi run. Just getting there is huge!

I use private trackers exclusively for content I want to “own” or want in the highest possible quality. Stremio/RD is great though for my wife to be able to search new media and potentially stream in okay quality without fucking with sonarr. Or popular TV you’re maybe not sold on but would try an episode. Or for old SD content, like tossing on a 90s show for a few episodes. To be honest, I live in a world of ad block and Stremio is sometimes the only way I even know something is out…
Anyway, they complement each other well.
Yep. If they somehow were left with only cis white men, they’d redefine cis, white, or man to divide the remaining people.
Last I checked, Texas was literally the only red state that actually paid more into the federal government than it took out. The cold snap was just the usual idiocy, but it’s not like it couldn’t be handled, the state just stopped caring about weather proofing infrastructure.
And with the amount of natural resources and basically year round agriculture that happens in Texas, I have no doubt it could be self sufficient to some definition. I almost wish they would secede and tank the current electoral landscape. As long as I can move out first.
Yeah, I’ll be honest I’m pretty tuned out on the Dems, but the first time I heard about this was an unwanted donation solicitation that started like “I just got off the senate floor…” and it made it feel so transparent that right now, it’s performative bullshit.
Could be the start of something, but it won’t be until the Dems prove they’re effective at something other than fundraising to lose elections.
Been listening to the 5-4 podcast about how much the Supreme Court sucks and it’s been partisan bullshit forever, but yeah Citizens United will probably be considered the death of American Democracy (even though it was terminally ill beforehand).
The Court will literally just make up rules out of thin air to justify whatever the fuck they want.
What are you going to criticize Republicans for? Sure, they’re morally bankrupt and destroying the country, but they’re doing exactly what their dipshit voters asked for and succeeding beyond their wildest dreams.
Democrats are the ones who are being laughably inept at what they claim to want.
Certain ones, like music trackers, can still be interviewed into. Once you get into an initial tracker and establish yourself, it becomes easier to find / get into new ones via forum invites. It’s a long road but barring a time machine it’s the easiest way.
I dunno, maybe I just had crappy indexers but usenet was always more miss than hit for me. Maybe it’s superior to public torrents but private trackers are the gold standard.
The mistreatment of the yuppies is my favorite part of that movie. When she opens the door and gets attacked by the squirrel and then the dog, or when the icicle destroys their stereo I crack up every time.
Ground level infrastructure meaning the ability to get people out to do anything from marching to rioting to picketing to canvassing to voting. The Civil Rights movement wouldn’t have gotten anywhere if it hadn’t actually mobilized people and thus made people aware of / afraid of organized resistance. The Black Panthers deserve a lot of credit as well for being the armed hard core of the movement.
We’d get a lot more of what we want peacefully if oligarchs were afraid we’d rally and fuck up their businesses bottom lines AND that they might get assassinated by radicals.
In my experience that’s a very appropriate boner.
They can’t run a candidate that can win because that would require a platform that steps on too many donors’ toes.
I used mutt back in the day, opening vim for message editing.
I wouldn’t do a mailing list these days, but as someone who spent the early part of my career interacting with devs that preferred this method, it’s actually pretty ergonomic by a 2005 standard. A message thread aware, text based email client that can turn messages into patches in a keystroke makes it actually pretty comparable to modern code review…
I think it’s hard for younger devs to get this because they’re used to email being stuck in a crappy, unthreaded browser interface or Outlook etc. (which are terrible for mailing lists) and most collaboration taking place in code review and chat platforms like Teams/Slack but for decades before these were feasible, email was the way…
These are such great episodes. The Enterprise one specifically is amazing. We so often see our valiant crew save Earth, but they almost never sacrifice their morals to do so.
For Archer, with practically all of humanity in the balance, how could he not fuck those guys over?
Hasta luego, Shoshanna!
I have a couple of very minor commits in Linux and, in the 3.0 era, had my name at the top of a source file for a platform that never saw the light of day and was later removed wholesale.
Still feel that invisible feather in my cap.
As if the Democrats would do a damn thing. They had four fucking years to put nails in Trump’s coffin and couldn’t do anything for fear of their corporate masters being denied the same grifts.
Police Union: How could you trample on the sacred rights of the police to escalate any situation into multiple fatalities?
