That’s like serving berry jam with berry pie. It would be just too much. You want to serve berry pie with ice cream. You want something that complements the flavor, not something that’s the same flavor.
Yep. The fact that there was never any kind of reckoning within the Democratic Party after this happened is a huge part of why I think they’re useless.
Obama, Harris, Biden, Clinton – these people are not leftists. They are liberals. You must understand this. In Europe they would be considered right wing. They’re the ones fighting leftists, the leftists are just saying “hey maybe let’s not do literal Republican legislation like ACA and then celebrate.”
I think Donald Trump won for two very specific reasons:
When Clinton said “Pokemon go to the polls.”
When Harris said “I can’t think of anything I would change from Biden”
Like honestly I think “Clinton and Harris being terrible, unpopular candidates” is a bigger factor in Trump winning both times than anything Trump did. Trump just showed up and wins by default when the Democrats run weak candidates.
I have friends and family who do just this.
Sounds like you have a specific problem with some specific people that you’re writing large over everyone else.
I think most of the people removeding online aren’t the same people who don’t vote in primaries.

I already thought Luigi was a fall guy, but that kinda sealed the deal for me.
There are a lot of drugs, but “stupid mistakes made while hurrying, and then not taking the time to fix them” is the #1 issue. Everyone is obsessed with hurrying, and few people recognize how mucy time is wasted by hurrying. It’s bad. I plan to build a house by myself next year, because I can’t find contractors/workers who will go slowly enough to avoid making mistakes. They just want to do more fast, crappy projects so they can make more money, which I can understand, but don’t respect.

So the thing about trains is they need tracks. Building tracks involves a lot of carbon output. You need to make steel, you need concrete, you need lumber, you need gravel. You need to ship all of these things to wherever you want to build the tracks. You need to buy the land that you’re going to build the tracks on. If you want high speed rail, the tracks have to be very straight and have very specific routes. If you want to electrify the train, you need even more metal for wires.
All that infrastructure, versus just an airport. It would take a lot of math to convince me one is better than the other, here. Once we have electric planes (the tech is mature, you can ride zero emissions planes in Canada right now, we’re just waiting on FAA approval in the USA), I think the balance will be clearly in their favor.
I love trains, but I think there’s room for both trains and planes in an environmentalist future.

Ironically, parts of Alaska have pretty decent passenger train access. It’s mostly for tourists, but still. Better than most of the USA.

I’m pretty sure they’re also making more money for the airlines than if they just bought the plane tickets, but it’s slightly procedurally obfuscated, so people are like “omg free tickets”

Airlines these days make more money off of points/credit card shenanigans than they do off of moving passengers on planes, and it shows.

This is a result of having so much economic inequality. Having a few people who are so much more rich than everyone else fucks up the price ceilings for everyone.

I read a biography of a Brazilian guy who lived in France during the late 19th century/early 20th century. Everyone in Europe called him an American, and he referred to himself an American when he was contrasting Brazil and France. At one point he went off about how hopeful he was about new plane tech coming out, because it would help “unite Americans across our various countries.” However, I think it’s fallen out of fashion to talk this way in recent years, partially because of USA supremacy, which is I think why people are salty about it.
Lemmy was foretold… we just didn’t know… 🫣

Do you really think there’s only one study that shows that AI increases feelings of productivity, while also slowing down productivity?
Every industry is using this shit.
So I work for a landscaping company. How is AI going to help me move piles of dirt, or rake up leaves?
We already tried using it to generate site plans/maps and communicate with clients, and it’s worse than useless for both of those things. What else you got for me?
BTW, I’m not genuinely asking for business advice here, I’m pushing back against your assertion that every industry is using this shit. I’d go as far as to say that AI has no relevance to most workplaces.
“Vibe coded app that lets you create guitar tones by what you tell it” buddy, I’ve played guitar for years, and this sounds silly as hell to me. Describing the tone I want in English words sounds much more difficult than just twisting some knobs. I think the youtuber guy may just be trying to sell a product.
You can do it, dawg!! It’s not something that can be done easily, but it can be done.
