Finally got around to start The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. Started and continuing as audiobook, but additionally I got the digital at about 10% in, to reread some passages.

Also, just yesterday, I picked up This is how you lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. Tried to go in as blind as possible and I’m so glad I did. Really enjoying myself here.

I feel like Küstenkrimis are the localised book version of Tatort. Short and kinda entertaining, sometimes you get an interesting twist but most of the “thrill” comes from Hey-I-Know-This-Place moments.

Haven’t read it myself yet, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about One of the Boys by Victoria Zeller.

I’m currently binging Ich möchte zurückgehen in der Zeit by Judith Hermann. As it’s been just released it’s only available in German yet, but if you’re able to read that I highly recommend. It’s about Judith’s own journey towards discovering the story of her grandfather and the traces this man, who was a convinced Nazi, has left in the family. The horrible shadow that drags way into the third generation, that no one seems to want to acknowledge.

For me it was fairly easy, as my TBR is huge and there were plenty of options for each theme. I would never have managed to complete the card time-wise without counting audiobooks though.

I’m still 90 pages from completing the whole card in Hard Mode, still, I already allowed myself to submit. Gonna finish those in the next week, I’m sure.

I just picked up Sara Ahmed’s Living a Feminist Life. It’s been on my tbr quite some time now, and while I’m not big on non-fiction I appreciate the philosophical tone.

Ich kenne diese Probleme nur zu gut. Je mehr Aufklärungsarbeit man leistet, desto besser wird es aber, so als kleiner Hoffnungsschimmer.

Ich hab mir angewöhnt, sobald nach der ersten Erwähnung klar wird, dass mein Gegenüber mit “vegan” nichts anfangen kann, stattdessen nach “ohne Milch und Ei” zu fragen. Das ist dann meist verständlicher und nicht selten wird dann plötzlich von einer Unverträglichkeit oder so ausgegangen und tatsächlich drauf geachtet.

Generell scheint mir nachzufragen der Weg zu sein. Häufig wurden mir dann schon tolle Gerichte gezaubert, die gar nicht auf der Karte standen. Und ganz nebenbei wird eine Nachfrage aufgezeigt. In zumindest einigen dieser Läden hat sich die vegane Auswahl seitdem verbessert.

Zudem: Wenn du was bekommst, das du nicht bestellt hast bzw. explizit nicht bestellt hast, dann hat ein freundlicher Hinweis nichts mit Verbitterung zu tun. Vorausgesetzt natürlich, du hast nicht vor, wegen Eiermayo in einem extra Schälchen den Laden bis auf die Grundfesten abzufackeln. Das könnte wirklich etwas verbittert wirken.

Depends. If it’s a book I’m not interested in or that I need to read for some reason: hell no. Just repeating the same few sentences over and over until I give up. If it’s something I want to read though, and I’m hooked by the plot and curious what happens next, it’s another timehole where 5 minutes of reading suddenly last at least an hour.

Ich hab einmal bei Velivery bestellt, weil es das Produkt, das ich zwingend brauchte für ein Festessen nirgends zu kaufen gab. Versand war fix, alles kam heil an und in einem einzigen Paket verpackt.

Größere Packungen als im Supermarkt gibt es nicht, dafür eben die gesamte Auswahl der Marken. Das hat allerdings seinen Preis und neben dem Fehlen der günstigeren Eigenmarken ist insgesamt alles etwas teurer.

Also geeignet als Anlaufstelle, wenn man etwas bestimmtes sucht, auf Dauer allerdings keine Empfehlung.
