Ai could be good, great even.
99% of it is being built not to be good, but to replace workers so that corporations can profit more, not to improve anything.
This especially includes all the shitty ai “art”

Shockingly I’m also mad about that. I suppose you support that situation?
Let’s not describe this as “paying valve three bucks” because that’s not accurate and is misleading.
It’s paying valve 30% of your revenue.
What’s the efficiency in taking 30% of almost all game sales on a platform? I know we all love valve, but the efficiency here is having a store that everyone has to use if they want to make sales at all.
Fwiw, this is bigots harassing developers and then posting articles like this, avoiding all the details about their bigotry
Again, if usbc4 wasn’t optional then people would just not make anything to support it.
There’s no incompetence, they are doing this for a reason. You just don’t like it.
The issue is that usbc and, more specifically, driving usb c, isn’t cheap. If it isn’t cheap, no one would bother supporting it. We would just have yet another standard to throw in to the mix.
There’s also like a premium version that costs even more and comes with some extra stuff. Dlc got dlc now.
Fromsoft are obviously squeezing every penny they can whilst they are able to. I’ll likely just wait and get a more reasonably priced version. 2024 is stacked with amazing looking games.
Lemmy (and reddit to a degree) is not like other social networks where you are lumped into one giant community. It’s many communities, and you’ll find that you are welcome in some and not welcome in others. That includes your politics and your views.
I don’t think I’d be very welcome in a community of conspiracy nuts, especially when I counter everything they say. I think they would remove me from that community at some point, and that’s okay, self policing of communities is okay. Sometimes you aren’t welcome.
30/60fps is always a developer choice. Not related to hardware capability.
That being said, every generation console makers will make the most powerful hardware they can for the price point they are gonna charge. It’s not exactly like Microsoft have any secret sauce here. It’s the same amd/nvidia hardware choices for the price point they think they can sell at that anyone can make a machine with.
I’ve been around open source for 20+ years and can tell you right now that it don’t work that way. An issue tracker and a wiki is not a community.
Most older open source communities were built on irl connections and irc, with some mailing lists thrown in. Hell, we even funded conferences just around the software, not to sell a product but just because it’s good for everyone to be talking to each other.
The issue tracker tracks the status of things, the wiki is generally user focused. It’s not where development happens or thinks get built.
The past few years have had at least four reaident evil games in development at the same time.
Re3make, 4make, village, that weird multiplayer one all going at the same time. It’s really not as unusual as you are making it seem. People like resident evil more than ever right now.
I imagine the situation is similar to this, but maybe mobile or switch games involved.
Fwiw, the eggs wouldn’t have to be more expensive, the eggs cost what the market will pay.
The only change is that the people profiting from your poor food conditions will profit slightly less.
This is a common lie they tell everyone.
The comments in here are really disappointing and a reflection of where this community has gone in general.
Excusing toxic gamer communities, accusing the developer of things for pointing it out? All because the game not in a good state is toxic in itself and really not what this community should be.
This place gets worse every week.
I would far from call the new zeldas masterpieces, but I think my main worry is that he seems like he might be incapable of breaking the formula.
I’m fully expecting the next game to be breath of the wild 3, with a new gimmick but basically the same. And for a series as varied as the zelda series that is fairly sad.
This is the second time Bethesda has done this.
The reason reddit enhancement suite existed was because the developers couldn’t fix reddit. Lemmy is open source, the frontends are open source. You and anyone else who wants to can fix it.
There is no need for an extension.
It’s worth noting that this guy is talking not of old Bethesda but modern Bethesda. The writing team behind Morrowind and half of Oblivion absolutely cared about the details that only 1% of people might see. Morrowind especially is a world built around you exploring the world building. It’s not about levelling up (wowee I can miss the flying fuckheads 2% less now), it was about exploring the politics and cultures in the world.
At some point, Bethesda games became about the mechanical exploration, about going over there because that looks like it might be interesting, oh it’s just a cave with combat in it oh well maybe over there will be interesting.
Strong moderation is the only thing that keeps a community a community. A good community is a community that says, “No, you and your content are not welcome.”
The lack of that is why platforms like Twitter fail at creating community, just an amalgamation of people throwing their shit into a worldwide circlejerk.
What I’m trying to say is that moderators do not serve your they don’t need to really give reasons or be consistent. They shape the community they Foster.
If your content is removed, find a community that accepts you, because the communities you found do not.
I feel like a lot of this is driven by a bias towards the unknown. You don’t know all the security issues in something new or even something old that doesn’t get the same level of testing as Linux.
I would trust security hardened Linux over all of the suggestions any day of the week. Better the devil you know.
