3·7 hours agoThis is a fair point, but I’m still calling it “Woke Superman” because it’s funny.
Sitting around:
“Hey, wanna watch Woke Superman?”
“That the one with the dog wearing a cape?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah, put it on.”
Is this meant to suggest that reactionaries aren’t work-shy as hell? That would be a lie. They all want some bullshit media career as much as any liberal.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Is Dying. It’s About Time.English
27·3 days agoIs “dying” the right word? They’re struggling, but I won’t be surprised if this administration or the next bails Meta out, since fb and insta are essentially public services for a lot of people, as much as I hate that. The smart thing for the fed government to do is to nationalize Meta’s platforms.

Don’t Stop Believing
Yeah, but most Trump sign houses are suburban McMansions and historic urban estates. Like we keep saying, the die hard MAGA people are thoroughly bourgeois and have been all their lives.
I didn’t mean to imply that liberalism and conservativism are completely indistinguishable, but rather that conservative thought generally represents the right wing of liberalism in the west. Sorry if this was unclear.
This omits what an earlier comment pointed out: that your typical MAGA/MAGA-adjacent “conservative” public figure is essentially fascist.
Chef’s kiss emoji on this one. Absolute legend.
The carrot thing isn’t totally untrue, but it’s a bit more complex. If you’re skilled in a trade, you probably have more of a chance of not being financially uprooted than someone with a white collar degree whose job will be AI’d in the next 5 years. That said, to make decent money in a trade, it helps a lot to have a degree from a trade school.
If you want a job as a radiology tech, what hospital is giving them out with no degree?
He seems like an outlier in a few major ways. One is his temperament. He’s crass and made of bluster. One is the Republican party, which is essentially fascist in the 21st century. That gives them a self-destructive character that can be taken advantage of by the Dems, if they ever decide to grow a spine. The 3rd is all the cameras on Trump, which tend to send liberals to social media so they can lament the awful things he does without having to take political action or hold the Dems accountable for doing a lot of the same things, but with less haste and news coverage.
After that, the differences kinda dry up.
I’d say that for liberals there’s no place outside of America, and no one whose life matters outside the media, tech, and finance industries. That’s why a genocide in Gaza can be glossed over.
Hard to say what the difference would be since she and every other big name Dem does support genocide, and the campaign was a complete fumble. They ran a guy more senile than Trump, spoke exclusively to big business and changed candidates at the last minute. Blaming voters for the blunders of powerful people is about as childish as it gets, but here we are.
Lol, way to miss the point.

His support for invading Iraq was pretty bad.
