  • Beleentoro Pro might be something for you. Basically a chill factory game, which I enjoyed for a long time. Other games by the developer Yiotro might be worth a look too.
There are also free versions of most of their games available, with ads iirc (not sure, has been a while). But if you don’t want the ads: the pro versions are really cheap. One time purchase for everything.

Another idea I have a puzzle game called: Mekorama by Martin Magni. The last time I played you got an option to pay what you think the game is worth at the end of the game. But you don’t have to.

Mini Metro by Dinosaur Polo Club is also really good, but comes with a purchase.

If you like tower defense, Bloons TD 5 by Ninja Kiwi is a must have. Comes with a purchase and has the option of microtransactions for cosmetics, but you can get those by playing as well. More importantly, it’s tons of fun.

In case you’ve got a Netflix subscription, check out their games. They have lots of games in their repertoire which you would have to buy if you went through the App/Play stores. (Bloons TD 5 should be included there for example.)

  • Similar story with my wife. She had cancer and should not catch something as serious as Covid. So, everytime we are among a lot of people, ecpecially in places with bad ventilation, we wear masks.

I haven’t kept count how many times we were talked to about that. The amount of conspiracy mythics among them was rather high. And not always were people polite.

This is really idiotic. As if even other diseases, which required such precautions, haven’t existed before. Too many stupid people around.

  • They literally said:

Perpetual growth in a finite system is impossible

I don’t see how your comment applies to that.

Knowlegde growth may be sustainable, but it is also impossible to grow forever. (Supposing knowlegde is finite, which is, as far as I see it, the case as long as we make the definition of knowledge depend on characteristics like repition-free and new. For example, you could learn the number pi to even longer lenghts forever, but doing that is not necessarily something new to know as it’s just a manifestation of a repition which was already discovered.)

I’m intrigued how you would explain that economies could grow independently of resources. From my perspective, it looks a lot like each and every form of economy relies somehow on some form of resource or resources. As resources are finite, economies can’t grow forever.

Not just republicans / politically right-wing oriented folks. From my experience you encounter this everywhere where people haven’t learnt how to have a civilised discussion. An important part of this is the ability to self-reflect and distinguish emotions from opinions from facts. Humans are emotional beings in their core and therefore the most are fallible. It’s only natural to resort to an emotionally driven and often stubborn defence mode if one encounters a contrary opinion. Even more so if that opinion is expressed in an emotionally loaded manner. It’s unfortunately a very counter-productive human behaviour.

And we have that a lot on the internet. Sadly.

  • That wouldn’t end the war, that would result in the continued wholesale slaughter of eastern Ukranians by their own government

Did Ukraine do that? Genuine question, not really educated in the pre-war history. Sounds a bit unbelievable to me at first glance. Feel free to provide reading material.

Please stop thinking about geopolitics in childish terms of maniacs and minions, life is not a Marvel movie.

Of course not. I wanted to keep it short and on point.
However, war will continue as long as there are forces at play who want the war. Putin is certainly one of these war-driving forces, as well as his minions his top-people in military and politics. Given the expansionistic approach, the numerous threats, even against children, creates a pretty insane picture.
