World News@lemmy.world•Trump announces deal for Russian diesel as Zelensky calls it a 'gift to Putin'English
10·21 hours agoSomething? Literally anything at all? At the absolute bare-minium… not electing a convicted felon and child rapist to the highest office twice? The DeFlock movement has more teeth than the pushback against Trump does. You want a good idea of what you could start doing to push back against GOP fascism then there is a place to start.
I live in a country that the Trump regime is currently engaged in hostile actions against, including credible threats of physical invasion. Forgive me for being harsh here, but it’s not my job to fix the US’s shit nor is it the job of anyone else that the US is/has been fucking with. I’m having to have conversations with my friends and family about the impact the US trade war has had on their jobs and our economy and what we’re going to do if that fascist shitstain actually invades us. I cannot put into words how frustrating it is to constantly deal with Americans that have done absolutely nothing to prevent this outcome while apologising for Trump’s actions like he’s a poodle that dumped on our lawn. Even worse when these empty apologies come from people that admitted that they don’t vote.
Do better. Fix your shit; it’s not our job to do it for you. We have enough issues going on here at home that we’re dealing without without having to teach Americans about how their own system works while their boot is on our necks.

6·7 days agoThis is all good stuff.
But the problem is that he already had 2 years left of a majority government and didn’t do any of these things. He has put himself in a position where everything he promises is him just saying “I could’ve already done this but chose not to.”

World News@lemmy.world•Anti-Canada separatists recently visited Washington D.C. offering fresh water and oil in exchange for US supportEnglish
19·8 days agoThey have nothing to offer. So much of Alberta is owned by the federal government or the indigenous peoples.
A separated Alberta would be a handful of urban centres (which are strongly opposed to separation) and some farmers here and there. Landlocked and surrounded by hostile borders on all sides.
It would be the equivalent to setting yourself on fire with gasoline and then begging someone to put out the flames by pissing on you.

3·18 days agoI have a feeling the NDP will lose their majority and will enter into an agreement with the Greens. Bad for Eby, good for voters as minority governments are usually the most representative of the actual wants of the people.

4·22 days agoSo we have the batshit crazy BCCons, the more moderate ones that jumped ship to CentreBC, and now the batshit crazy ones that got kicked out and are too right for CentreBC but can’t go back to BCCons.
Are we potentially looking at 3 conservative parties next election? Eby must be sleeping so soundly right now.
