Except it’s not comparable because we literally have general/true intelligence right now… it’s just not artificial. There is no radical breakthrough needed. We know it’s possible. We just don’t know how.
Teleportation is not possible as far as we know, and backwards time travel isn’t either. That’s not comparable to true intelligence, which already exists, just not artificially.
Yes, the way the system works is that short-term success is prioritized above everything else. Because if you don’t prioritize the short term, and someone else will, you’ll lose out to them.
Sure, the one who prioritizes the short term will get fucked in the long term, but that doesn’t matter, because they were the short term successful ones, and the one that went long term is now out of business or a much smaller player.

Because you’re not following social conventions
It’s also up to you to learn to work with others, conversation is a cooperative game. If you don’t give enough signs, people don’t know the tone you are intending to give over text, because body language and verbal tone is missing. That’s the purpose of the informal conventions
It’s your problem to learn too

1·3 months agoAlso, I’d argue, because reality isn’t a zero-sum game. We simply earn more by working together and helping each other, and so more altruistic societies are more resilient. Over time this might average out into morally better societies winning out more than they lose out
That doesn’t mean they can’t lose out, though

2·3 months agoI think they are joking that redistributing their wealth and abolishing billionaires is centrist. Or rather, should be, and that murdering them all is the slightly more radical alternative.
And honestly, yeah, why is it acceptable, at all, for a few select individuals to have such massive fucking amounts of wealth, and not just that, but have that be like… the “medium”/centrist opinion? That’s completely absurd. It should be in the realm of neofeudalism or neomonarchism. A far far right wing joke of an opinion.
