America is so different from when I was a child. Late stage capitalism is destroying our once great national like a malignant brain tumor and it is painful to watch

It used to be that humanity’s most expensive projects were religious temples. Now it’s machines for scientific research.

I wish that were true, but the world spends far more on machines of war than we spend on science.

I really think that Germany has too much power over EU. Does this make me racist with Germans?

Doesn’t Germany have the largest population of all EU countries? It makes sense that the country with the largest population and largest economy might also have more influence than lower population countries.

Everything the US does starts to make sense when you realize the US government is fully owned by lobbyists and wealthy donors. The Military Industrial Complex is a trillion dollar for-profit industry with the deepest pockets in the world. The capitalists who profit from it effectively own our country.

Blame marketing (propaganda.) Our government has given control of our information networks to corporations and corporations use those channels to blast us with consumerist propaganda 24/7. People are taught that the type of car they drive defines who they are as a person so they do what they were taught and they buy a giant tank of a vehicle so that people will see them as dependable, manly, successful, outdoorsy, etc.

Capitalism. 40% of Apple’s total revenue goes to shareholders just for existing. Latestagecapitalism is like having a severe tape worm infection. The rich take most of the wealth we create without doing any of the work

Most Americans want universal healthcare. The problem is that we have a broken and corrupt system where our politicians are bought and owned by the donor class and lobbyists

“People wouldn’t have an incentive to work.”

That is just their attempt at rationalization. The real reason is much simplier: money, money, money. Lobbyists, Super PACs and the donor class own our politicians. The rich pay for their political campaigns and bribe our politicians in some interesting and creative ways. For example, giving a politician a million directly is illegal, but if he writes a book and then you have the SuperPAC buy a million copies of the politicians book that is somehow legal.

Yeah, Congress blocking affordable Chinese EVs completely betrays their messaging about EVs. It is clear they don’t care about the planet, EVs are just another opportunity to transfer public funds to the donor class (billionaires)

Maybe some conservatives are secretly cheering for climate change to ravage 3rd world countries, maybe, but most billionaires (capitalists) don’t actually want people to die. They aren’t cartoon villians, they’re just selfish assholes who don’t care enough about anyone else to see past their quarterly profits. A malignant cancer isn’t trying to kill the host, it is just growing and hording resources as aggressively as it can. Capitalism works the same way.

On the bright side, Republicans destroying the country with fascism might be the fastest path for the US to finally adopt a modern multiparty proportional representative democracy.

The way capitalism ignored medical science to poison multiple generations with lead, and now is doing the same thing with plastics has completed soured me on capitalism. It is truly a disgusting and irredeemable system where the greed of a few outweigh the needs of everyone else.

Fast cars are fun to drive (if you are blissfully ignorant of how dangerous speeding is), but knowing what I know now, it is scary how easy it is to drive a fast car recklessly. I don’t have a source at hand, but I’d bet money that high HP cars kill children and pedestrians at higher rates than small eco cars do.

Ah, we can blame capitalism for that one.

I get it’s risky and money is needed to survive, and prison is bad, and all, but it seems a bit hypocritical for doctors to violate their modern day version of the Hippocratic Oath.

They rationalize it by saying that they can’t help anyone if they are sent to jail. It is partly true so I don’t think we should blame the doctors here.

Plus, Jesus didn’t even mention abortion once. He ordered his followers to feed the poor, but now they fight against feeding the poor and fight for causes Jesus never talked about.

I am beginning to think that true Christians are communists.

Everyone I know thinks our two party system is shit, but at the same time they think we are stuck with it and that it is a waste of time to worry about things we can’t change.

They’re wrong. We could change it if we all collectively demanded a better system. We are only powerless because we choose to believe we are powerless.
