  • I sometimes think that violence is seen as the easier answer. It is short term thinking, a big risk for an immediate possible reward versus a brutally long marathon of effort needed to enact real change non-violently. Statistically the long slog is the correct choice though.

You cannot keep fighting if you are dead from a violent act, but if you get up and apply pressure everyday it will add up. Be a warrior of great and enduring patience. Get up when you fail and try again. Learn and live a long time. And other words of motivation that are written on white ladies kitchen walls.

  • If I were the boss here the first one would be to let people know this is the new normal, but I probably wouldn’t fire anyone or do much shuffling as a result of the first round, but otherwise conduct the process very seriously. Well, that’s what I’d want to do, but I have a lot of trouble with the word ‘serious’ and other such words that serious people hold court with.

I’d expect that someone like Carney will, at minimum, make an example of someone to put the fear into the others. That’s what TV and movie logic says to do anyway. I guess we’ll find out if he is a movie guy soon.

  • I feel they would rather us slowly starve to death, or aphixiated by smoke, in small manageable packets than be roused all at once to action. All hail netflix and doordash, the bane of revolution!

And don’t think I ascribe any higher status to myself. I am only another fool shouting into the wind, paralyzed, and unable to gather the mental resources to act.

Some do act, I think, build revolution, and fight their way out of comfort to face the hard shapes of reality where the battle must be taken, but I cannot imagine such a person. What do they feel? How were they raised to be this way?
