Not sure this is actually newsworthy, but I burst out laughing at the one I saw where a family was blessing Ultraman Tiga. With that said, I’m off to get my poopie butt cleaned

News@lemmy.world•FBI warned US West Coast police that Iran might try a drone attack: reportEnglish
7·1 day agoThe vast majority of the Iranian diaspora is in California, and many of them are Pahlavists. I’d think that high concentration of Iranian immigrants would make it easier for an operative to hide within as well.
While I don’t trust the FBI, there are conceivable reasons why they’d target California.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I'd like to ask everyone, which movie have you rewatched more than three times?English
4·3 days agoThere was a time I’d watch V for Vendetta every November 5th, but that’s fallen off in recent years. Still a great movie; it’s one of those few films I think is better than the source material. I have also probably seen Billy Madison 500 times. There are a ton more I could list but those are jumping out in my head

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Gun manufacturers are having a great year.English
9·4 days agoI know that the second a gun is brought into a house the members of the household are significantly more likely to be shot. I believe it’s because of the number of gun related suicides as well as the risk of a negligent discharge.

7·4 days agoIt’s not about the arbitrary number, it’s about where the sun is when that number not dictated by me rolls around.
Well then I guess I’ll have to savor the knock on effect of increasing costs to transport all goods to be smug
I got into it with someone claiming there is nothing wrong with being apolitical about a month back on asklemmy. I argued apolitical people abdicate their responsibility as citizens in a democracy and are a significant reason we’re in this mess. Ended up cutting off replying to them after a bunch of strawman bs back from them.
I hope that guy is having fun with the cost to fill up right now.

6·4 days agoAgain, I don’t get to set my own schedule, they’re determined by these numbers that while arbitrary, are rigid. Drop a kid off an hour late to school every day and have fun explaining that to a truancy officer, or tell your boss you’re leaving work an hour early to catch some sunlight and see how that goes.

18·5 days agoI don’t need the sun to come up at 4:30 in the morning during the summer, and I am a pretty skilled runner. I’m just not a morning person.

45·5 days agoIt’s also dependent on where you live. Someone living on the easternmost part of a time zone is going to tend to want DST over standard as compared to someone living on the westernmost part. I live in the easternmost part of the Eastern US time zone and I’d pick DST if I had the choice.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a belief you’ve done a total 180 on?English

The come down from magical thinking can be rough

That’s dated just prior to the start of the war, which has me wondering if these radars were not yet positioned, if their crews are not yet trained or undertrained, or if these radars are not as good as are claimed. My guess is the first possibility.
