GreatDong3000@lemm.eeto Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit Looks To Facilitate More Activity With New Posting Updates3·4 months agoI used to create new accounts and pick up some karma on those freekarma4you subs and similar, where people upvote eachother just for karma.
Last time I did this, recently, the account (which was brand new) was shadow banned in multiple different subs that I used to participate, without having had any prior activity on those subs at all.
I can only imagine there is some kind of auto filter shadow banning accounts which post on these karma subs that mods or admins are using now. So it will be even harder for newer accounts to participate, I honestly don’t know how I’d have managed to get karma to comment on any sub any other way.

Subreddit drama discussed11·4 months agoI am pretty sure a bunch of mods on big subreddits are actually Reddit employees cosplaying as normal users too.
Oh, and Reddit is now shadow banning your accounts when you evade a ban on a sub. So now I got all my accounts shadow banned because I ended up commenting on a sub I was banned on one account without noticing it, so I have zero reasons to go back to using reddit anymore. At least before I got a ban and was notified about how long it would take for my accounts to be usable again, now they are shadow banned without any notifications and I have no idea if they will ever go back to normal or not, so fuck it.

Hey, pay to see my sub guys, I promise there are posts with pictures of [???]. You pay and then it is all AI generated pics. Etc.
GreatDong3000@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I’ve been locked out of PayPal for years because of their mistakeEnglish2·1 year agoAgree, where I live for recurring subscriptions most people use “digital credit cards” that you generate on your banking app and they have short expiration dates or you can cancel them and generate a new one anytime you want. That’s good because there are so many services that make it a pain in the ass to cancel a subscription so you just delete the card from existence.

From that list the international purchases is a good reason to use PayPal in Brazil. I only have an account there because like 6 years ago I needed to pay for a TOEFL certification and without an international card the only way was PayPal so it worked pretty nicely. Never had to use it after that tho. Hope you guys get a better alternative so PayPal can die a horrible death.
GreatDong3000@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I’ve been locked out of PayPal for years because of their mistakeEnglish76·1 year agoWhat is the use case for PayPal in the US? Here in Brazil we pay everything with credit card or bank transfer with a QR code. People can transfer money to you from any bank 24/7 instantaneously with just your email or phone number without any fees. Is that different in the US?
No you don’t need the terminal in most distros meant for desktop use to install software. Your distro will have a GUI app store, then flatpak and snap which are the most common software repositories after your distro’s default also have GUI. You can use the terminal because it is literally faster, you don’t have to if you lack cognitive ability to write apt install gimp or some shit.
Googled it. It wasn’t because of worms in general. It was from Vermiculus which is the diminutive of Vermis but also was how they called a very specific worm, at some point in time the only way they knew where to get red pigments from was by crushing this worm.
Vermillion also comes from Latin, Vermiculus. Mainly used in Portuguese as vermelho for red.
Man do you know how many instances exist? I hate this idea of trying to coordinate defederation across all bigger instances all at once. You have the option of migrating to an instance which is already defederated from them, or hosting your own instance and defederating from whoever you want. You can also mute them. Don’t come to a decentralized network with the expectation of imposing centralized decision making behaviour?
This is the fediverse and that is their instance. You just move to another instance and mute them if you are desatisfied with them.
