  • Its been a while since I listened to this album.

[Verse 1] Always locking the doors to your mind Escaping the reality that surrounds you Using faith as an excuse to kill A sick way of life is now revealed

[Refrain] All the prayers in the world can’t help you now A killer, a taker of life is what you are

[Bridge] Speak no more lies It’s your turn to die

[Pre-Chorus] Preach the good word Speak no more, prepare to burn A justified torture? From this may others learn The life you took A holy death, a grave mistake No changing your mind Your life you should pay

[Chorus] Practice what you preach Your loved one is now deceased Knowledge is at our hands Never to understand [Post-Chorus] Spiritual Healing

    [Guitar Solo]

[Verse 2] Blinded by the twisted ways you live Kill for religion, will the lord forgive? Idiocy has stricken your mind A real life hell you will find

[Refrain] All the prayers in the world can’t help you now A killer, a taker of life is what you are

[Bridge] Speak no more lies It’s your turn to die

[Pre-Chorus] Preach the good word Speak no more, prepare to burn A justified torture? From this may others learn The life you took A holy death, a grave mistake No changing your mind Your life you should pay [Chorus] Practice what you preach Your loved one is now deceased Knowledge is at our hands Never to understand

  • Isn’t this a question of hubris? The title claims that “Rational People Do Worse”, but wouldn’t a rational person surmise that there is some information/mechanism they don’t have access to that the computer does in order to achieve the success rate claimed? In that case the rational choice would be to claim the single box.

The other factor not addressed is the $1k vs $1m. The calculus changes a lot based on these amounts. If it was 10 bucks vs the chance to win millions? that’s the lottery. if it were $10k it be a lot harder to walk away from that.

As a thought experiment, its a lot easier to say what you think the answer should be, actually making that choice when there is real money is psychologically different.
