What a shocking turn of events! If only something like this could have been foreseen and prevented!

I’m really starting to think that Reticulum is the eventual way of the future for network communications.

Not to mention the free, open source models you can run even on older phones that are plenty good enough for most use cases and don’t hoover up morbid amounts of personal data to later leak. Those aren’t very profitable for any of the big companies. Oh well.

History has been consistent in showing that capitalism gives zero cares about long term consequences for short term profit.

Another commenter mentioned that most of the major platforms do have safeguards against this stuff at this point and are more being done with local models. That’s my ignorance and I’m sorry about that. I would agree with you in general - what you do on your local device should be private, which will protect a lot of important usage but also some nefarious usage. Terms and conditions of freedoms.
I was thinking of how Grok in particular was just open to generating these sorts of images without any guardrails. In my mind that was similar to a company producing deadly chemicals without any guardrails for preventing it from poisoning everyone around.

The companies that produce these images should be prosecuted for each and every one. They must have safeguards against stuff like this out go out of business.

Confirmation bias will lead them to the truth.
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a good argument against confirmation bias.
The leopards feast once again!

Now do the Justice department.

Not particularly difficult. They already have Wi-Fi beacons in every store and I’d bet there’s a good chance they have Bluetooth beacons as well. With either one of those, it wouldn’t be difficult to track an individual’s position in the store with pretty significant granularity. Couple a position plus a unique device ID for the shopper’s phone (or combination of profiles adding in watch, headphones, etc), maybe even some UHF audio signals or additional Bluetooth signal from the price tag (which sounds like it updates wirelessly and therefore provides a whole additional network of location tracking in the store) and you could just about pinpoint where a person is tied with their purchasing history and behavioral analytics in real time.

I mean, look at where capitalism has gotten us and it starts to make sense why.

For real, since it’s the company who built the thing and the company who is responsible to control the thing, the company is also responsible when they fail to control the thing. We should stop saying an “agent” did a thing and just say “OpenAI hacks friendly nation in foreign espionage attempt.”

I mean, he is a source of a threat to National security, just maybe in a different way.

I think sometimes we think of a human working for an AI, but this is still more a human working for a rich human to babysit the rich human’s machine.

Look, just because it’s smarter than you, mr. Pedo in chief, doesn’t mean that it’s “super intelligence”. Most of us aren’t that impressed.

So who is ultimately responsible? AI isn’t something like an unfortunate mechanical failure (though even than someone bears responsibility). If the government is using AI for targeting military attacks, it sure better understand every single risk associated and be ready to swallow every ounce of responsibility. You don’t get to say “AI messed up, oops” and move on. You told the machine what to do, so you’re responsible. Every one of those school girls’ blood is on your hands.

It is partisan though. The Republican Party works for billionaires, for which climate change is inconvenient and unprofitable, therefore the Republican Party is required to deny climate change on severity or existence, and most definitely on source. Otherwise severe and costly action would be required that would seriously impact the shareholders.

Well yeah, thanks to the felonious pedo in chief’s evil war of choice and other asinine dementia decisions, everything costs too much and party hasn’t kept up.
The American people care much more about climate than either political party and the Green Party got co-opted by Russia. Americans don’t vote on climate because both political parties serve capitalist billionaires.
And before I get the “both sides” blow back, absolutely vote blue on account of the democrats not being fascist at this point in time, but don’t be deceived that they actually represent the American people.
