Seems like you’d want to chop it up into smaller pieces where you took it down. Transporting it like this is much more likely to get the attention of the cops. Granted maybe you risk others scavenging it while you are transporting the smaller portions. But it’s probably better than the cops taking the whole thing.

I don’t have the cajones to do that. Best I can muster was the time I found a 20 ft section of Unistrut abandoned in a bike lane. So I took it home.
