“F you, Taylor Swift!” shouted Megyn Kelly, “and f all of the people who want to see these children have body parts chopped off.”
For those not fluent in Republican crazy-speak, Kelly’s meltdown was triggered by Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris the night before, barely one hour after Trump all but face-planted on the debate stage. Kelly was especially triggered by Swift highlighting her appreciation for vice presidential nominee Tim Walz’s support of LGBTQ+ rights.
…
Other right-wing commentators, like Ben Shapiro, took another approach: making fun of Swifties. “Note: if you vote for a particular candidate because your favorite singer is doing so, please don’t vote. You are too stupid to vote,” wrote Shapiro on X. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet, threatened to impregnate her.
There is a long list of places I would rather live. Mainly ones that offer Healthcare and vacation time.
One thing you have to realize is that a LOT of Americans HAVE very good health care and good vacation time. I do. I don’t have to worry about either of those things.
In fact, there’s a lot about the US healthcare system that is actually better than other countries. If I want (not need) an MRI, I can literally get one today.
Healthcare is more widely distributed in almost every other country, and I really really wish that we could get our shit together and separate healthcare from employment, I am voting, and donating, and I even went to a few protests about it.
I have vacation time. Many of my coworkers don’t even use up all their vacation time. They don’t want to, cause they have an unhealthy relationship with work, but it is available to them.
I live in a state that specifically passed laws (that I supported, and voted for) that specifically say we support gender affirming care and abortion rights, even for people traveling from states that don’t have those protections.
The US isn’t one place, every state has it’s own laws that protect people in different ways. Many of the cities also have their own protections as well.
I can move somewhere to get the exact same thing I have now, or I can stay here and keep pushing to help get EVERYONE else in this country the same quality of life that I have. And that’s what I’m going to do.

Dude, I’m ON YOUR SIDE. Don’t attack me because I’m trying to explain why we’re not burning down the capital building.
I WANT there to be big improvements, and yes, I just got back from a trip to Europe and actually sat down and talked to locals over there.
I personally have very good vacation time, comparable to Europe, that I use.
I personally have very good health care, probably better than many areas of Europe. I have used it. I understand the limitations of the various systems and for me, personally, it wouldn’t be an advantage to move to most other countries.
There are MANY MANY people in the US that are in my same situation. But I also believe that even one person that doesn’t have the same access that I do is one too many, and the US system isn’t built to support them.
Me moving to another country will NOT improve my situation, but it will hinder my ability to push for change for the other 300 million.
I’m not OP but I have FTO. Unlimited vacation time. And I’ll have taken about 8 weeks of vacation by end of this year. Living and working in the US currently.
