Why Anime and Manga Characters Have Enormous Eyes

Anime and manga have a distinct art style that is unique to every artist. However, there is one distinguishable feature that's common everywhere.

TIL that the trend of anime’s signature large eyes started from mangaka Osamu Tezuka’s works, who himself was influenced by Disney and Betty Boop cartoons, and fashion designer Jun’ichi Nakahara’s works. Other factor such as a proverb involving eyes also played a part.

I am just soooo tired of that art style. I know not all anime is like that but goddamn, there’s so much unoriginal design
