It’s so funny to be reminded of that period in the 90s where any first person game was described as a “DOOM clone”, because DOOM itself was the first FPS that hugely took off.
Doom was a top down 2d shooter that just happened to be rendered in first person 3d.
I have not seen the video but I think the correct modern answer nowadays is: “boomer shooter”
And what defines that genre?
