Everyone is so caught up in their own issues. I’ve spoken to two people in the last few months that have a relatable amount of dread and anxiety. A few liberals are upset but they are hopeless and honestly too focused on Trump himself to see what is going on. They are just waiting until they can be victims and go to white heaven.
It is shocking to me that I cannot imagine a scenario other than everyone getting completely caught off guard by whatever happens next when everything is so goddamn obvious and predictable.
My own life is falling apart. I can’t eat, sleep, work, or study. But expectations remain as if everything is normal. If I didn’t know better, if I wasn’t so scared, I might wish for collective punishment on this society for the harm this is alone is causing.
But I don’t want to watch people become victims. I want people to see realize their potential. It seems this future is impossible. How can I not bear some responsibility for this? But what is the point if we are not acting collectively?

I agree with all of this. I admit this was kinda a vent post on my part and not totally materially grounded and was actually gonna delete it. I guess it just frustrates me how many people base their vision of the future on a romantic, pop culture ideal of a Final Conflict where elections are cancelled and other nazi ww2 tropes when the reality will probably be that all elected capitalist officials, regardless of party, work in lockstep to keep the working class in their place. I think we agree that most people ARE good and do just want to live in peace, they’re just forming a flawed model of the future using a flawed model of the past (fed to them by capitalist media).
